how’d you think the gang would react to Dally dating a soc guy? (Specifically Brill from the musical, the green soc boy, but just like in general)

Idk who anyone in the musical is y'all, i have no idea who you guys are talking about

The way the stars would have to align for this relationship to even happen. They definitely hooked up at a party where they were both too drunk to care about social norms and I imagine it just spirals from there.

Dally 100% plays a game of will-they, won't-they with this soc until they finally give in to the tension and actually become official.

Now, Dallas doesn't care about his inclination towards men, but I imagine this Brill guy is much more secretive. I just think culture around queerness is way worse with the socs idk.

That doesn't mean Dally is flaunting this relationship tho. He's definitely ashamed and viewing himself as a traitor, and is just generally not keen on the guys finding out about this.

Of course, they do by complete accident, and Brill insists on properly meeting them. Cue the outrage.

Darry is the least upset because he would be a hypocrite if he was. I think he does feel a little protective because he's had his heart broken by a soc so he worries over Dallas. He definitely gives Brill the shovel talk and I imagine the soc is incredibly afraid of him.

Two-Bit I feel has the easiest time laughing it off. He makes jokes about Dallas being the one to switch sides for WEEKS. He does feel slightly betrayed, but I don't think he lets that get to him. Two's the first to offer Brill a beer and a seat at the poker table.

Ponyboy not only doesn't care about Dallas but he's also actively friends with socs, so he has zero room to complain. He definitely whines if there's a lot of PDA, but he has no problem with Dally's boyfriend being a soc.

Sodapop doesn't exactly concern himself with the divide between greasers and socs, and he adores that Dallas has found someone who loves him and treats him well, so he's sold. I also think Soda actually helps calm down Darry and especially Steve. He's the first to point out you can't choose who you like and Brill makes Dallas so happy.

Steve is by far the most bitter about it. He's the one cussing Dallas out and reminding him what the socs did to Johnny. Soda has to do a lot of work to calm him down, and even then Steve and Dallas still have to take out outside real quick.

I think he stays angry about it until he sees the positive change Dallas is having because of Brill and he cools down some. He still hates that damn soc, but he mostly keeps it to himself.

I think Johnny isn't super against it but it's really Dally that has the hardest time reconciling with his attraction to Brill vs his loyalty to Johnny.

Johnny by far has been hurt the most by socs, specifically Bob and his crew (which I assume Brill is either close to or apart of). Johnny sort of has to encourage him to keep his relationship because he knows Dallas is so happy with Brill.

Although, Johnny also gives Brill a shovel talk that leaves him even more terrified of him than he is of Darry.
