back at it again at doctor who
‘i met an emperor made of algae once.......... he fancied me .......’
WHAT??? HAHAHA DOCTOR WHAT the way they just kept so seriously focused on him
but the talk about food and sentient versions of food tells me that the fish blocks are probably made of human flesh (maybe)
I think the doctor already knows what’s going on but he made up the whole talk about the humans not having arrived yet to keep Bill from getting upset AND RESULTING DEATH (edit: he just knew something was up and suspected mood stuff had something to do with it)
and the bones have become calcium-based fertiliser methinks....
i was right. great ‘skeleton crew’ joke
‘you know what it means when something chases you very slowly? it means that they don’t have to run’ GREAT LINE
OOOOHHHHHH ‘can’t you call the police or something’ OH MY GOD. i never made that connection. the POLICE telephone box.
This is how i expect everything after this to go. Moffat sets up generally good concepts with a shitty episode, and then better writers take over with some real good writing.
shouldn’t the doctor be stopping the engine from exploding. ok so they lost the pacing there a little.
so the doctor figured out the vardy were responsible because of their dry brains logic, but then he didn’t have a plan. but then suddenly he did have the plan of resetting them all. uh. morally questionable decision firstly (if they’re truly an emergent life form) but secondly wasnt that obvious from the start.
How come the vardy seeing humans as enemies after they’d attacked one of their own means they’re a new species?? kinda a weird leap
I’m not sure how humans are gonna fare in a city made of lil robots who believe themselves to be? what are their new parameters??? the Doctor certainly has a lot of faith in the organic process of humans and vardy co-existence development NOT ending in a massacre.
That was a bit of a sloppy ending, which didn’t really...sell its main conclusion about machine personhood or at least specieshood because it wasn’t actually based in anything, but the episode was WAY better than the first. the emoji stuff was a fun little gimmick that actually was pretty unsettling.
