Jemma Positivity Week: Season 1
Hi everyone :D
I’m doing a Jemma-Simmons-Positivity-Week this week :D.
I will list all the great (and small!), kind, amazing, helpful, clever, etc things Jemma has done throughout the seasons, starting today with Season 1 :D
Here's the intro to these posts for further explanation ;).
The other seasons will follow the next few days, each day for one season and at the end a masterpost consisting all of them.
Let’s get started :D
Season 1
- She develops the dendro-toxin which not only helps save Mike (controlling the unstable Extremis serum!) but also becomes essential for the entire run of the show, since it's the compound that makes it possible for the agents to shoot without actually harming anyone permanently.
- She figures out what the Extremis serum is made of.
- She calms down Fitz when he panicks about trying to perfect the night-night gun under pressure.
- She makes sure that Fitz doesn't get stung by a mosquito (There is no vaccine for Dengue fever!)
- I really liked two little moments in 1x02 when she stood up for Fitz. Once when Skye was trying to throw the dwarves back into the DWARF case in whatever order and Fitz gets upset, and Jemma tells Skye, that it matters to them. I also liked how she stood right next to him when Ward tried to bully him about not being field-ready, by basically coming back at him with the “who do you think designed all this stuff.” Not only did it show how much she cared about trying to make Fitz feel comfortable in the field, since it was her that suggested they go into it in the first place (first showing her incredible curiosity!!!) but also her standing up for the entire scientific division making it clear that without their inventions, the field agents/operatives couldn’t be doing what they are doing!
- She operates on Akela Amador, freeing her of the eye that made her a slave.
- She tries to trick Ward with the Night-night gun so he leaves Fitz alone.
- While being deadly-sick, she develops an anti-serum against an before unknown Alien Virus in a matter of hours.
- She jumps out of the plane to save her team so Coulson doesn’t have to make the call.
- She comforts Fitz in the end when she sees how bad he feels for not jumping out of the plane, making sure that she feels that he is the hero just for being there for her.
- She makes Fitz his favourite sandwich and hands him an anti-venom pack against spiders before he goes on his first mission without her.
- She teams up with Skye, risking her career to save Fitz and Ward, accessing a forbidden wall panel and shooting Sitwell with the Night-Night Gun.
- Even when she freezes when professor Randolph gets hurt, she tells Coulson how to save him.
- She was trying to calm down Ward when he was being horrible after picking up the staff, explaining to everyone that it was just the reaction to the Berserker staff.
- In Repairs she finds out what actually happened to Tobias (that he is now a being trapped between two worlds) and finds out that the lab actually worked on making a portal to another world.
- She and Fitz develop Mike's advanced suit and she gives Mike a medical check-up as well before they send him into the field.
- She and Fitz help Skye to escape SHIELD's custody and they and the rest of the team help find and rescue Coulson.
- She also tries to make sure that the Centipede soldiers don’t get killed by the new devices they are developing saying that they are being controlled.
- She and Fitz save Donnie from being frozen.
- She also developed the freezing compound that Donnie and Seth used in their machine.
- She warns Fitz that Donnie betrayed them in Seeds.
- In TRACKS she makes a split-second decision to throw herself on a grenade to save Fitz and Skye. (IMO you can see the calculation that goes through her head: They all die or she alone dies. (Luckily of course, it’s only a dendro-toxin grenade, but it’s quite clear that she didn’t know that!!!)
- She saves Skye from certain death after being shot by keeping her alive as long as possible and she is the one to vaccinate her with the GH-325 serum.
- She studies the GH-325 serum relentlessly and we see for the first time how she is willing to stand up against her superior and even go against his direct orders to do what she thinks is right (I have a duty as a SHIELD scientist to save lives!)
- She doesn’t crack under death threat when Victoria Hand tries to trick her and Trip into swearing loyalty to Hydra and then stands up to Hand when she wants to go after Coulson.
- She stands up for Trip and vouches for him when Coulson at first refuses to let Trip go with them.
- She is kind and empathic with Audrey, and confronts Fitz about his behaviour towards Trip, trying to make sure they get along.
- To make everyone feel better, she wants to make Pancakes.
- She finds Koenig's body and examines him, determining for sure that it was Ward that killed him.
- After that is found out, she calms Fitz down when he looses his temper over Ward betraying them.
- Overall we see her comforting Fitz during this time ("At least we still have each other") while also being realistic about the whole situation.
- She stands up to Talbot when he tries to intimidate them.
- She makes sure that Fitz knows she's not Hydra and comforts him by the pool.
- She and Fitz find the Bus stolen by Garrett and are ready to put a tracker on it (one of the dwarfs) before Ward captures them.
- She figures out how Fitz and she can escape the Pod.
- She refuses to leave Fitz behind and saves his life.
- She tells Fury where Coulson is.
Everybody feel free to add your own additions in the reblogs/replies :D. I’m sure I forgot some things!
And you can also just add general things you like about Jemma, be it the way Jemma helped the team, nice gestures Jemma does but also character traits you like, etc.
Season 2 will follow tomorrow :D
Very special thanks to @weareagentsofnothing for betaing this post (and adding some of her own in the process :D) and being one of my enablers :D. These posts wouldn’t be the same without her!!! Thanks also to all my enablers from the Leo-Fitz-Positivity week, without whom these posts would probably have never come into fruition, @agl03 @eclecticmuses @popsicle86 and @the-nerdy-stjarna and everbody that replied/commented on the posts, keeping my muse afloat and just making my week, giving me some of the best time in the fandom I had in a long time :D You guys ROCK :D

Jemma Simmons in Season 5 5x13 “Principia”
AN ~ AS PROMISED Jemma self-rescue fic *rubs hands together*. If Jemma 'let's remind everybody that I'm specifically a biologist' Simmons doesn't do something with that room full of plants I'm going to eat my hat. Let's just leave it at that for now. & enjoy!
also fulfils @aosadvent2017 prompt “peace”
*spoilers for AOS 5x01 and 5x02*
Rated T for Kasius being a creepy jerk (but nothing overly sexual happens), but also for him meeting an end he deserves.
Read on AO3 (~2500wd)

or forever hold your peace
“Walk with me.”
Kasius waved a hand and Jemma forced herself to move. Slowly, gracefully, pointedly, like she had once learnt in ballet: using enough muscles to pull herself forward, so that she would not be tempted to turn and run. She knew she would be dead before reaching the door if she tried something like that. She wouldn’t even hear it coming.
So she followed, swanning after Kasius as if she hung on his every word. They were, after all, the only things she could hear thus far. His words. His breathing. His footfalls. She was not sure if anything else would come back to her, but the absence of her own breathing and heartbeat and the sound of her own footfalls in these marble halls no longer haunted her like it had the first night, keeping her up in a swirling sensory deprivation chamber. Now she had something to focus on. Kasius. And how much she hated every single thing about him, like nails on a chalkboard. Like honey dripping off a thorn.
And then, suddenly, she couldn’t feel hate.
She stepped over a threshold with him into a garden so beautiful that for a moment she could hardly breathe. A room full of potted roses was one thing but this? Gloriously paved pavilions swept here and there, winding through gardens of roses and daffodils, olive and lemon trees, palm fronds and frangipanis, ivy, and orchards. Apples, pears, peaches, apricots.
Her jaw dropped a little. Her body had stilled. None of this she noticed until Kasius turned to glance at her over his shoulder, a smirk on his lips.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” he prompted, though of course he required no response from her. It was assumed that she would agree, and even if she had wanted to deny him that satisfaction, her awestruck expression had already betrayed her. For a moment, she was stuck like a deer in the headlights, but she kept her face passive and he did not think to question the inner workings of her mind. They did not matter to him. Only her face.
Satisfied at having caught his petulant princess in a moment of vulnerable joy, Kasius waved over another servant. He would quell her yet, he thought, and picked up a piece of one of his favourite golden apples.
“Try some,” he offered, and Jemma obediently stepped forward. Forcing her breath in and out, forcing her fingers not to clench into fists, she tried not to notice those cold, flat blue eyes so close to her face; that touch so tender but not for her sake. She wished to herself that the apple would taste like ash, like poison, but as she bit down, found it was one of the most beautiful things that she had ever tasted.
And then the rage flooded back in.
“You understand that my love will never fade?” “And there is only room in your heart for-” “For her.”
