Fuck if I know. It's a lot more of thought than theory I guess. I do apologize for it being a bit messy.
But, we're all here for this little thing that happened today, on April 25, 2023 (wow IRIS right on my boyfriend's birthday, nice~)
WHO in their right mind (had they survived the slaughterhouse that was the IRIS facility) would just go 'You know what? I survived! I'll just tweet something out!' (Goddamnit Anti, what the FUCK did you do now?!)
Well, I might have a reason as to why, least for the Deja vu. There are several possibilities to explain it and all of them are valid until more information is found. But for this little theory, I'm going to like... go with the most talked about theory that's been around since the beginning of this rabbit hole. Everyone and their grandmother pointed this out.
Timeloops!
Or in this case, possibly more of a reset.
Perhaps all this time, it's been resets happening and that may be what's causing Time to be 'broken'.
Remember back in AF: CB... what was the LAST thing to happen in it? Anti having made his fun little rampage through the IRIS facility, a bunch of IRIS staff dying in one form or another. And him cornering Chase in a familiar... red lit hallway that Chase desperately didn't want to be in and tried so hard to tell others with him at the time to not come here and to flee elsewhere... Chase's terrified view as Anti looms over him with a dark chuckle.
Then it cuts to black.
Ever wondered what happened then? We had a few IRIS tweets after Anti tore through the facility, then radio silence for 4 months then boom that. At least from IRIS's side of things.
But after Halloween, things had been quiet. A few things here and there.. (I'm actually drawing a blank of what other videos had something happen in them, let me know) then Sean's recent little playthrough of the 'Classrooms' where Anti giggles and we hear the faint' "No one's gonna help me".
What does any of this have to do with Resets and timeloops?
Well, hear me out, what if the moment Anti had cornered Chase in the hallway, (Recall that Echo mentioned to Chase that Anti is after him because he's special, just never clarified what that 'special' is), that, for lack of a better term, Chase's power activated upon his distress and wish to not be there and caused a time to reset? Which undid everything that happened (probably to a degree) that week or so. But Anti still remains with him, giggling at his attempt to escape and hide from him and Chase sinking further into despair with the thought that... there is no one... not even IRIS is able to help him.
Which is the dark thought path Anti is pushing him towards. Arin did state that the small stone slab that they had found in a village in northern europe had affected many people there and a few that managed to survive it turned down a dark path... he just never clarifies what that dark path was.
Which makes sense, the symptoms of the slab match that of Anti, but his ability far outranks the slab. Hell the slab could have been containing him, but his power was still great enough to seep out and affect the surrounding area and anyone near by. and that Stone slab still has that lingering power from holding Anti within it for so long. Assuming that it did contain him. IRIS had been tracking Anti for a while but had and probably still don't have a means to contain something that can come and go as he pleases.
So perhaps Anti is pushing him down this path for a reason. What it is, we don't know. Just that Anti targeted Chase for his specialty.
And Chase did confirm to Arin that he does experience deja vu, but waves it off as the mind playing tricks. Which could mean that despite probably having used his ability often unintentionally, that Chase doesn't remember everything that happens. Just deja vu moments or feelings of being somewhere before but confused about it. There's only a few instances he remembers very clearly what happens in certain times and places and panics about it. He just... doesn't know why other than it has to do with the man in dark clothing haunting him. And going to these places that he remembers clearly... never ends well with him or whomever is with him.
So all these timeloops/resets that happen, are likely Chase escaping situations in which he has zero help, no escape and cornered by Anti and blindly terrified. There's was something else that piqued my interest. When Arin was trying to gain Chase's trust by telling him what IRIS does (haha funny), and then revealed that Chase is being tormented by an extremely powerful ALTR far more dangerous than any ALTR objects they had contained.
Chase says, "He won't leave me alone. He shows me such... awful things that I did." Things? It's quite possible that Chase did suffer a divorce with Stacy due to his drinking. And in a fit of despair and pain, probably during an argument with Stacy, leaving him open to possession or whatever Anti did to him, likely caused Chase to 'snap' and kill Stacy and their child. Be it via illusions or some otherworldly tricks Anti did to cause such a thing to occur.
Each tragic death being different each time Chase resets things. If that ability goes that far. But it's more than likely that Anti merely pulls at Chase's alcoholic past and rough marriage troubles about it to rub into Chase's wounds. A reminder, for each waking hour, day after day... he lost his happy life due to poor choices. Assuming so, at least, we don't quite know what is going on here. Or what he did for Anti to push onto Chase.
Or perhaps, Anti merely lies to push him further onto that dark path, who knows?
