Year in Review Meme (2015)
I was tagged by @jsevick - thanks!
Total number of completed stories: 11 (not counting a WIP)
Total word count: 15,662 published, and then probably another 10,000 or so as of yet unpublished.
Fandoms written in: Arrow, Stargate SG-1
looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected?
I didn’t actually expect to write any - I’d had a long dryspell wherein I was going back to school, working, and havin’ babies - so I ended up writing much, much more this year than I expected.
what’s your own favorite story of the year?
This is always so tough to answer, because obviously I love them all. ;)
we’re on our way through rugged land is a really short fic, but I loved writing Diggle and Felicity, and so it tends to be a favorite of mine.
The other one would be The Male Prostitute in the Club With His (Word Redacted Due to Content) just in terms of how fun and easy it was to write (crackfic comes naturally to me, even if it rarely sees the light of day).
did you take any writing risks this year?
I think in just starting to write again after a long hiatus. Writing in another fandom always feels like a risk to me as well, because you never know how well your work will fit into the fandom environment or how it will be received. So you kind of just have to put it out there, and that’s nerve-wracking for me having been in SG1 fandom for so long and feeling comfortable there.
do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year?
Just to keep going, basically. I’ve gotten much better about actually putting down stories that are in my head and sharing them, rather than being timid and keeping them to myself. Also, I obviously want to see Caught A Long Wind finished this year, and if not I want it to be because it’s become this beautiful, fun long fic that’s taken on a life of its own. I’d be okay with that!
"And if there’s one thing he loves about Felicity Smoak, it’s that fear has never stopped her. She leaps from rooftops and stays beneath crumbling concrete and plunges a needle into the neck of the man with a sword to her throat to save the world… They fell in love on the battlefield—it means he fell in love with a soldier. What she told him tonight, that marriage was fighting together, only made him love her more." Hold Me Closer by jsevick
Hi! (Congrats on your Nano word count--that's AWESOME!!) I just *loved* your "It Runs in the Family" fic, and I was wondering if you had any more headcanons for that universe? Either dealing with new stuff in the MCU, or Felicity's childhood with Tony and Pepper, or Oliver interacting with any more of the Avengers? Big or little headcanons; just something to answer if it's fun for you! :)
Oh, thank you so much! I had a lot of fun writing It Runs in the Family, as well as a lot of hard work, since I was writing a lot of action in this fic. But I really enjoyed getting to explore the differences in philosophies between Marvel heroes and DC heroes.
That was part of the reason in the big final fight, Tony doesn’t have his Iron Man suit and he’s doing all this as Felicity’s dad, not Iron Man. I wanted Tony and Oliver to be on a more level playing field, united in their love for Felicity.
That was another reason that other Marvel characters didn’t show up--I wanted the focus to stay on Tony & Pepper and their relationship with Felicity. But if I had brought in another character, it would have been Steve Rogers. He’s totally Felicity’s favorite honorary uncle--although I feel like Clint Barton would start lording it over everyone that he must be Felicity’s favorite, because look at who Felicity fell in love with--not that superguy from Metropolis, but an archer.
(Clint really is a walking human disaster. Everyone quickly put him in his place over that belief.)
Ask me anything!

This is making me want to catch up on Sleepy Hollow–and I really need to watch Buffy one of these days. :) Great answers!!
I don’t know how far you got with Sleepy Hollow; I’d abandon S2 entirely and just skip to S3. It’s early days yet, but I’m definitely pretending S2 doesn’t exist.
And you MUST watch Buffy! It’s the best show ever.
jsevick replied to your post:why isn’t Rurouni Kenshin available for streaming...
It is on hulu (with ads tho) :)
of course hulu has it out of all the legitimate streaming websites
(thank you though that's good to know for future reference when I'm super desperate!)
