@jstce liked for a starter!
Mikami doesn’t think he has been nervous about meeting anybody since his job interview at Kyoto prosecution. There is simply nobody who is worth that kind of mental exhaustion from him, nothing that is worthwhile enough.... nothing but this. God. At any time he might appear from the crowd now.
It feels like an eternity that he has been standing here, at the corner of the party, idly watching Takada smile at guest after guest, effortlessly. He himself has made no efforts to mingle more than necessary. Small talk is a nuisance. He is only waiting for one person. The door opens again and he instinctively moves to straighten out his already perfect tie (nearly crooking it instead). No lifespan. No doubt. Mikami swallows dryly and waits. It would be insolent to presume and approach before God had expressed desire to speak.
