These two! This kiss! 🤧 Even though it's in the midst of a funny, little scene...this really does feel like such an authentically intimate moment, doesn't it? I mean...the way he squeezes her shoulder...the way she touches his face...and that gentle kiss he gives her on the temple (which I am going to go on record as saying seemed very spontaneous and real...and to which I have a visceral reaction)! It all just feels like a beautiful display of emotion, from two people who genuinely cared about each other. Unbelievably sweet! 🥺 Incidentally, this would prove to be the last onscreen kiss between these two talents. It really was the end of an era, guys! 😩 Okay...I'm pulling myself together, now! I pretty sure that "Summer Stock Gene" just told all the other "Genes" to... "watch and learn, boys...'cause I'm about to take swoon to a whole new level!" 🤭 He really was reaching some romantic heights here, wasn't he? And as I was mulling this over (as I'm prone to do), my thoughts turned to his lifting (for lack of a better word) Judy down from that crate. Incidentally, I once heard someone call it a "trust fall," and I think that's probably a very good description of what happened, there. Anyway...it was then that I realized something...Gene didn't just "lift" his partners...he "held" them. There really is a difference, isn't there? Something about his body language, and even the way that he used his hands in these moments was incredibly intimate, and very nurturing. Could it be this potent combination of emotional vulnerability and strength, that creates such a strong response in the viewer? I'm thinking yes, guys!!
