"breaking news: farspace fleet colonel got into a scandal with a newly debuted idol!?"
saw you mention ionia in a reply and now i'm legally obligated to ask what are draven's feelings about it? what does he think about the invasion (and its related horrors, from child soldiers to the use of chemical weapons and the sacrifice of noxian troops too). idk tell me what he was thinking but refrained from saying when robin brought up the invasion
thank u mel, didn't linger on this in the thread cause it's last hours. and draven knows well that whether who's right or wrong (if there even is a right opinion) he'd get smacked by robin for speaking his mind⸻
now let's go back the beginning. draven grew up in a violent environment. where fighting as a kid, and even being forced to resort to killing at such a young age was normal, and mostly necessary to survive. then was taken in by the noxian army. which was just as violent. so he needs a little more than regular war to be phased. he didn't exactly question the topic of child soldiers, even later (contrary to individuals like kayn)
when it comes to the drastic measures taken by noxus, draven sees it as a necessary evil. war is unfair, war is horrible, but noxus needs to expand and fight on to thrive as a nation. so if such tactics must be used to assure victory, it is justified.
though, that does not mean he completely is alright with it all. draven isn't particularly fond of the sights chemical warfare leaves behind. the casualty it causes on either side of the war. and he sure doesn't wish to be caught into it, and miss an arm or worse. that particular topic gives tends to make his skin crawl a bit. even ethically, he'd hardly be pressed to say there isn't a single thing wrong with it.
what really didn't sit right with draven during the first ionian invasion was going through with it in the first place. not for moral reasons. but because it was a fool's errand. sure, ionians died. but so did noxians, and for naught. including a few friends sent to their deaths. that much war efforts wasted.
and so he was displeased with darkwill. thankfully, so was swain.
in short, child soldiers, loss of his own people are most normal and mandatory if it permits emerging victorious. and war crimes a necessary evil at times. sometimes war needs to be swift, other times you have to send a message, both via any means necessary.
also, he cares less about the ionians lives as he does noxian ones. be it patriotism, being detached from the "enemy side" as war forces one to grow, or a certain lack of humanity. but here, darkwill pushed on pointlessly. noxus lost its former glory. it didn't even do good for his contract in the arena when he hopped into it. so, because of that, draven doesn't defend the decision that was the first invasion.
but again, bringing up how noxian lives were lost too for nothing to robin, especially when he's already seething, isn't a great idea, is it?
So Zam just send me this juice that she got! Well this is juicier than I thought😂 Really want this anon to head over here so we can chat a bit haha!
