“Call it Crossfit”
Just a funny experience to share.
So I told my brother I was going for a run, and he responded “Oh you should run to the co-op, buy some milk, and carry it home, you can call it Crossfit.”
I ended up doing just that, turned the 10 minute walk into a 30 minute run, and carried two gallons of milk the half mile home.
1st Kyu Brown Belt Test
So I got tested for my third (and final) brown belt, and I'm honestly super excited. This test was purely verbal. I sat down with my master and we talked about things like why I joined, why I continue, why I use certain techniques and which ones are my favorites. We also talked about which instructors I feel have had the biggest impact on my life/training and how. (I might rant about how much I love my instructors in another post.) We also did a 'choose your own adventure' thing where he went through a situation and I told him what I'd do, whether it be fighting or leaving or whatever. Lastly he asked me what he thought my assets were, and I kinda got flustered cause I hate talking about myself positively, and he said, "I think the best thing about you is your personality, you're so compassionate and kind, yet firm when it comes to what you have to do, and if I could describe you in two words it'd be well respected." So yeah that's a thing, so affirming and amazing. About 8 months till I test for black belt. 🥋
Ran 2.29 miles in 31 minutes! It's .12 miles better than my previous best.
During Jijitsu
So after my Sensei showed us the hip throw we were working tonight I asked him if it was applicable in wrestling, and up to this point I hadn't mentioned to karate people that I'll (hopefully) be wrestling in the winter. Upon learning of my plans he was super nice and explained the moves in a great wrestling sport/points way, and it was honestly so helpful. He did mention to me that "You'll never be the strongest one in a fight, though you've got weight classes, a pound of muscle on a female is different that a pound on a male. Since you won't be the stronger one you've got to be the more technical one." So yeah I'm happy he knows, so he can help me bridge the gap between what I know and what I need to know, cause I honestly have no idea where to start.
PROOF OF STANCE
Just put out a new video on proof of stance. Let me know what you think.
