We are just like Jesus
So last time we saw just how much God loves us, and prepared a perfect place for us to live. Even the angels in heaven were amazed and wanted to know just who and what we are. What God actually created was not just a flesh and blood man, but even more wondrous He created another speaking spirit. Meditate on that for a moment; let it get right down into your understanding. The real you is a spirit, which has a soul and lives in a body.
And you can speak. We are created in the image of God, with the same creative ability and force within us - and our creative ability is in our words, just like God. We are just like Jesus. Don’t be shocked, I am not being blasphemous, just being a believer who believes the Word of God totally. If God said it, that settles it, and I believe it.
God loves His man so much that He created every good thing for our good pleasure. He created our bodies to never wear out, to never get sick. Our bodies are so awesomely created to rejuvenate themselves over and over. And God in His awesome goodness created enough wealth for everyone ever born, to be millionaires and live the good life which He had prepared ahead of time for us to live - and that wealth has been pre allocated to us already. Health and wealth are all part of God’s original plan for His man. But, sin got in. Through suggestion, the devil skillfully wove a web of deceit and convinced Eve (with Adam standing right bedsides her) that if they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would be just like God. Poor fools, they were already just like God and didn’t realize it!!! They were what the devil so wanted to be, just like God. But sin got in, and man slipped from his position - see Psalm 8:5 - of “a little lower than Elohim” (which is one of the names of God, and means God the Creator) to below that of the angels. Adam literally committed high treason against God, lost his position of dominion in the earth, and put himself in subjection to the devil.
But God was not in shock nor taken by surprise. His plan for mankind had not only been prepared, but ratified and completed before the foundation of the world. So, throughout the ages God had men, His chosen prophets proclaim words of the coming Saviour - the One who would restore man to his position of authority in this world. The One who would take mankind’s sins upon Himself and in a divine exchange give them His eternal life, thus causing man to have right standing with God again and be able come into His presence as freely as before. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17 - “He made Him who knew no sin to be made sin for us, that we might become the Righteousness of God in Him”. Through this divine exchange Jesus became sin on the cross at Calvary. He was then able to go to hell in our place and pay the price for sin so that we might be made the Righteousness of God - in Him. We became a new creation - a being which never existed before. When we accepted Jesus into our hearts, our spirits which were dead got “born again” with the life of Jesus inside us. That is how much God loves us, that He was willing to give His Son; to leave His place in heaven, to live and then die that awful, horrific, undeserved death on the cross so that we might regain our position above the angels (and that means the devil - he is just a fallen angel) and be like God again. Righteousness means that we can come into the presence of God without the consciousness of sin. “We can come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” - Hebrews 4:16. This is boldness, that no matter what, we know that when we come before our Father, who loves us, we shall obtain mercy and grace - not we might, but that we shall. God loves us, and wants us to come to Him in every situation, either good or bad.
So, what did you have to do to become the Righteousness of God - NOTHING - absolutely nothing. You were made righteous. You cannot earn your righteousness; it is a free gift of salvation which you receive when you make Jesus the Lord of your life. So take it. Because you are righteous you can come into the presence of God. So what happens when you sin? You repent, and carry on. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Yes, it is this simple - the God who loves you set it up like this because He does not want us to be bogged down “with every weight, and sin which so easily ensnares us” Hebrews12:1, but to lay them aside, and to grow up and be changed from glory to glory. God wants us to be Righteousness conscious, because that is how we live strong and bold.
“In the way of Righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death”
Proverbs 12:28
