Julia Warhola Was an Artist in Her Own Right. The calligrapher, illustrator, and mother to Andy Warhol lived with her son in New York City for decades, supporting and even collaborating with him on artistic projects.

An influential bond. Andy Warhol’s fondness for his mother, Julia Warhola, is revealed through personal letters, photographs, even prayer cards in #WarholRevelation. On view in the exhibition are the portraits of his mother that Andy created in 1974, three years after her death. These portraits were based on a photograph by Edward Wallowitch, acclaimed photographer and one of Warhol’s first boyfriends.
Nearby in the exhibition, you can find artworks made by Julia, who was a self-taught artist. The animated angels she drew carry crosses and herald good news in a riot of heavenly activity, and were created between 1952 and 1970 while Julia lived in New York with her son. #MothersDay

Andy Warhol
Yall want some Fun Facts about Andy Warhol's MOTHER? because i love her
Her name is Julia Warhola!!
She had a daughter in Europe before she had her 3 sons but the daughter died shortly after her birth
She was badass bitch
When Andrej Warhola (Her husband) left for America she was left in Europe until he could get enough money
she had to grieve the death of her daughter by herself
it took years until Andrej was able to get enough money but when he sent it to her it got lost
So she (im pretty sure she was pregnant with her eldest son) did it herself she fucking boarded a supply boat and was a bad bitch
She loved Andy and his artistic interest!!
She offered Andy, Paul, and John a full sized candy bar to the person who's drawing was better (Andy always won)
She had pancreatic cancer IN THE 40'S!!! AND SURVIVED
^it was after Andrej had died too
She and her children walked 2 miles everyday to go to church
She sold hand painted stuff and worked odd jobs after Andrej had died to keep the family going
She babied Andy so much to the point where she moved from Pennsylvania to New York City when he was in a basement apartment and lived with him until she died
also had 25 cats in that apartment
Her and Andy are buried next to each other in Pennsylvania,,:)
okay im done thank you i love her

Stay on the D train until you arrive at Coney Island. Walk ½ block to the left and get on the no.3 bus. Get off the left and get on the bus at South st. And walk 2 blocks South and one block West. You will then be at Nathan’s. Order a Nathan’s Special with everything and take a cab back to Manhattan. *recipe by Suzie Frankfurt* ‘
