Happy 20th #Spaced. I discovered your brilliance 16 years ago, cutting a meh zombie comedy. I connected with you instantly. The double tap of episodes 3 & 4 from season 1 cemented you as my favorite show. Never have I felt so connected to material, and so stunned by the directing / writing / editing of a television show. I still play “S’il Vu Plait” when I’m having an exceptionally good day. . Years later I traded in my torrented DVR’s for the American released DVDs. Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Jessica Hynes came to the states, screening episodes and taking questions. Pegg and Hynes were sweet enough to chat for 20 minutes (I was about to start writing a pilot for FX, and had a million questions). I was too frightened to talk to Wright, as a director I was so in awe of how he shot that show. I did get to have a great chat with him years later, trying to get Scott Pilgrim to play it’s NYC midnight debut. . . If you haven’t seen it, hunt it down. It’s brilliant. Grab your Gillian Anderson FHMs, some Jaffa cakes and a chocolate beanie, and throw some moves in the church of Spaced.
