lmao I thought the first 2 eps were a mess. boy did i underestimate the level of intellectual circle jerk mofftiss were capable of. that ep was terrible. wow.
The first two episodes were the better episodes of this season, which is sad because the last episode is usually the one that makes the whole season. Sadly, it wasn’t that kind of episode.
First of all, there were so many loose threads that I just can’t deal with in one answer. Second of all, the build up before the episode had hinted at a long anticipated return of Moriarty, and when he came in with a chopper with Queen I was so incredibly happy. The moment ‘five years earlier’ came up on the screen, it was obvious that he was not alive and would not make a return. That made me disappointed and felt like it was a cheap attempt of giving the viewers what they want instead of actually making something out of that. An example could be to have Moriarty come back as the base villain for series 5. But no, they had to bring in Moriarty once again to rub it in that he is actually dead, plus giving us a scene where he’s doing interpretative dancing with Eurus Holmes.
Thirdly, they had to squeeze too much into one episode resulting in it being flimsy and not actually having any depth to the narratives they were presenting, making it really difficult to understand how it all would actually work. What was the actual relationship between Jim and Eurus? Why weren’t we allowed to see that? Instead Sherlock making a haunted house for Mycroft, why not spend that time explaining a little more? I’m sure it all made sense in their heads, but I’m far from seeing it all in an understandable manner.
As I said, the first two episodes were good, but I don’t see where they were taking us with the third.
