As a talented longboarder, surf coach, and manager at Mollusk Surf Shop in San Francisco, CA, Julie Cox loves to travel and shoot photos along her journeys. Though she didn’t start surfing regularly until she was 16, Julie remembers being entranced by the ocean as a little kid. She grew up in Agoura Hills, not far from the longboarders' paradise of Malibu, and soon became a local at Zuma and Leo Carrillo State Beach.
At UC Santa Cruz, Julie pursued a degree in Environmental Studies in tandem with a pro surfing career, and was soon offered a ROXY sponsorship.
Julie lived in Oceanside, CA and worked as Director of the California Surf Museum, a non-profit organization with a mission to Preserve Surfing Heritage. She also competed in the women’s longboard tour where she was ranked 5th in the world in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Now living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Julie loves surfing the powerful NorCal waves and exploring the area’s natural beauty, arts, culture, and food scene.
