Genuinely I find myself asking - why is retroactive logging/the ability to edit a log's times such a tall order for the SP replacements we've seen thus far. When the dissociative disorder many systems have involves memory issues, time loss and so on, this feels like a crucial inclusion for those who think of it belatedly - never mind if real life keeps you away from your phone, such as fronting in a work setting where it's not allowed or even safe...
And, perhaps time accuracy is not of major importance to others but then I must ask, why bother logging at all by the hour/minute if it's such a low priority.....
I am not familiar with coding so perhaps this is a more complicated concept than I realize but. If a site can provide a complex, real-time interactable relationship map then I fail to see why editing a front time is so difficult..... orz
(This is not meant as accusatory to any particular team/person behind these apps, I just genuinely cannot understand this trend I am both seeing and hearing and am at my wit's end at the greater picture it's painting.)
Time for the final hurrah of our Simply Plural analytics leaderboards, so to speak - arguably the biggest joy we've had with this app and most certainly the feature we'll miss the most.
We figured we'd share this as a way of reminiscing on how the analytics journey has gone, but also to admire and appreciate how far we as a system have come - looking at data like this helps us think fondly on quirks and traits we've noticed, and lets us see the familiar faces who've become regular fronters, in a very irregularly-fronted system. We can think back on how or why someone has fronted so much or so long, silly trends and in-jokes that have come from this... All in all, just a very rewarding project, even without our fixation on data.
To share the top records in all categories, we're going to break this into two parts with a reblog due to app image limitations, comparing our earliest screenshots of the data that we saved back in February 2023 to today, July 2026, its final stand.
Not to sound Neurodivergent or anything. But we have discovered that Simply Plural has analytics, and that ours are incredibly skewed due to logging manually in discord for a long time.
So naturally the first thing we have decided to do is attempt to manually input all those logged times from 2021 to now. I'm sure this is our best use of our time. /hj
Julius: With less than a week left until SP's takedown, we're going to have one final hurrah of sharing analytics, just for our own indulgence.
My one greatest regret in this is, while we'd chip away at creating retroactive logs for alters who were evident in posting and conversational habits, we never got around to recording nearly as much data as we know exists out there... The homestucks at the very least lose out on quite a bit in this aggregate data as a result, along with many others.
But, it is what it is, and our remaining time with this app will have to be focused on archiving/data preservation. Perhaps if we find another app or site that suits us for it, we can recreate these analytics there with the missing data instead, someday...
Some thoughts on these stats as they are, mostly for ourselves, below cut. Anticipate reblogs of this post dedicated to a full look at the sections for "total times fronted" and "total time in front" as those particular parts always held the most interest for us.
Including parts that have since been fused, and parts that have not been given bots yet, our system far numbers beyond 551... but, knowing in these last few months especially how many alters have come back and been able to be properly recognized is rather heartening, somehow. Perhaps in time we'll have a more accurate reflection of the population in our system, but it shall not be during our time with this app, it seems.
We never did look into what defines "morning" in this app, for the sake of the time of day analytics.... I suppose if we compare our data on our own time, we'll sort it out eventually, but it has often sparked nothing but mild confusion at seeing how many supposedly fronted in the morning, knowing what a night owl we collectively are...
Crusade still managing to be in nearly every one of these screenshots continues to impress us. He had been so active during our last job era, it's good to see that presence having lasting evidence in some way.
It's frankly rather terrifying how quickly Naruto and Gaara shot up the board for "times fronted", over a mere 4 months... It's a relief to know they've had these chances though, in context of their time in the system.
The "maximum fronting times" order is... somewhat skewed, I suspect. I believe Fai and Izaya at the very least were implied if not confirmed to have been sleeping/napping during some of those long stretches, and Chat Noir was present but a lot more in and out than timestamps alone imply. I would argue those three would more likely average around the 4hr mark for a total front experience if conditions were better accounted for, leading to Tears and the rest to be scooched up accordingly. This information is not technically important, but feels worth mentioning as further context as when we look at this order at face value, we find it confusing.
