Ok I managed to squeeze one in today. It helps that the entry in question had a pretty well developed basis for the kaiju file text! Still, I might need to decrease the pace to one file a day for a bit - this weekend has suddenly become very busy for me, as life is wont to do.
ANYWAY, today’s file is Julkath by @skarmorysilver! This is actually a kind of funny one because it’s actually based on a kaiju concept I cut from ATOM originally - rescued from the cutting room floor as it were. Does this make Julkath the ATOM equivalent of Bagan?
Regardless of origin, Julkath is an awesome monster in his own right. A perfectly over the top sabre tooth cat monster, I feel like Julkath is sort of the Pleistocene counterpart of Tyrantis - which, given his Russian environment, may make him the Russian Hero Kaiju? I don’t know if that was intentional on the creator’s part, but I saw this guy and immediately felt he had a place of prominence for the Russian monsters. He won’t be the only kaiju in this contest who gets to be “(insert nation here)’s Tyrantis” in my little headcanon for these kaiju. Also, I have to laud the fact that Julkath here takes a monster design I could never quite get right and makes it work. That’s impressive and wonderful to me.
