#9: King Dedede's Theme
Requested by Purplekoop, their comment: "Wanted to not do a repeat series quite yet and figured yesterday's news was timely enough to give this odd game a spotlight. Most of Kirby Fighters 2's rearrangements use traditional Japanese instrumentation, I'd assume to give the feel of each fight being an "honorable duel". The game's iteration on Dedede's theme, perhaps fittingly, stands defiantly against that, being a primarily techno-EDM style track that uses steel drums for much of the main melody. Definitely fits Dedede, though that's our second big guy use steel drums for his theme. That classical Japanese style does still seep in though, but much more reserved, limited only to a small portion right before the loop ends with the iconic 'triumphant return' motif that became a series staple with Super Star, which I'd say invokes Kirby triumphing over Dedede's more antagonistic role in this game. Also rest assured, my favorite track in the game (which is the obvious one, if you've played this game you know what it is) will be played later. probably for that big upcoming release a couple months out, that feels like a good time..."
