“Kujikawa-san!” Naoto calls, louder than intended. Her hand goes to her mouth, covering it in a frantic attempt to make the words which have already been spoken be quieter, but forces herself to set her arms at her side and press on with the conversation. “I was wondering if you would like to eat lunch together? I... Er...”

She trails off, fumbling over the words before more erupt, falling over themselves like a waterfall cascading down. “I just-- I usually eat alone, since I’m working on one case or another, but I have no current obligations, and I’d rather not sit alone, and all of us are friends, except you’re in my year and Tatsumi-kun is busy and--”

Calm down. Naoto pauses, exhaling, then offers Kujikawa a shaky smile. “Forgive me. It is difficult for me to ask such things. I do not mean to make it seem as though you are last on a hypothetical list, I just wanted to explain my motivations for asking you this so spontaneously. Would you be willing?”
