“Yeah, but becoming a toad?” I’m not smart enough for that or rather, he doesn’t think he would have had the energy to. Becoming a toad. Horrifying.

“Then we’re like Yosuke, species Mage and species Katsuki talking to each other about other Yosuke species that used to roam the plains.” He puts a finger to his chin. “Maybe we need to hire Attenborough, the documentary guy, for the voice over.”

"I guess we couldn't get around the toad thing without explaining the persona thing, and that would be on top of explaining Teddie? Maybe I should ask him how that all went down..." There was only so much he could've hidden under his clothes, right? If he recalled correctly, even his eyes got weird.

"Species? I don't think it works like that. I mean, I'm just a guy... Maybe, like, if there were Yosukes most similar to me without big changes? But that... That hurts my head to think about..."

That sounds like he had some issues if he was closed off, not in a negative way, but just, well. Something.

“Wow, I don’t know how I’d explain becoming a toad to my parents...” He supposes that Yosuke had no choice if he wanted to solve the case and all. “But sounds like there were a lot of interesting Yosukes then. Not to make it sound we’re a species with a Wikipedia article.”

"We managed to explain Teddie somehow." Not that it was really all that uncommon for someone to ask their parents if a friend from some broken home or some such could live with them instead. Him living in the closet and wearing a mascot suit all the time was pretty weird, though.

"I mean... I feel like we should be, at this point."

"Uh... Yeah. Like Naoto." Easiest way to put that.

"Actually there was a Yosuke that was the detective prince instead of Naoto. That was interesting..."

“Really!?” He doesn’t even try to hide the surprise this time. There’s a lot more he wants to say but he doesn’t because a thought hits him then. “Then it implies Naoto was like... us? Working at Junes? Wait, since the multiverse is real and all, then that means...”

He doesn’t finish because there’s... a bit to think about.

"I have no idea. That guy was super closed off. I never got to ask him." He shrugged.

"Yeah! There's lots of weird stuff. Like, this one Yosuke who's like... a frog..." Mage laughed. "Toad. He was a toad. Lived in a world where you became your persona the more you used it? Something like that."

"I don't know if what I'm doing is that common. I mean... I don't really know that many Yosukes doing it. I think some become detectives?" Of course he couldn't really elaborate on that, probably.

“Like Naoto?” He does a very poor job at hiding the surprise in his voice. “Well... good for them? If it makes them happy, but wow... I didn’t think some of us would be detectives.”

"Uh... Yeah. Like Naoto." Easiest way to put that.

"Biology...?" He stared at him.

"Man, I've never been good at science! But you do you, man. If that's what you like."

“I’m pretty good at memorizing stuff, so it was pretty easy—not chemistry. And when you actually get things, it’s actually fun. I thought about maybe a music minor in college, so maybe I’m not too much of an outlier out here, ha ha.”

Does he want to say it? If he’s a Yosuke like Mage, shouldn’t he have followed a similar train of thinking for careers?

“Uh... biology. I’m not going to be a doctor or anything, but it felt like something I wanted to do, so... I’m not staying at Junes. Not unless I really have to, like no jobs or anything when I get the degree or stuff.”

"Man, I've never been good at science! But you do you, man. If that's what you like."

“That’s pretty awesome dude!” And so much more accomplished than he is!

For reasons that are obvious, like the whole older than him part.

“I get it, you want to stand on your own two feet and not feel like you’re using someone to get by in life and all of that. But at least you know what you want to do, I haven’t really figured that out for myself yet.”

"Hey, it's alright. It's tough knowing what you wanna do. Just..." Would a warning fuck up a timeline or something? Whatever.

"If your dad begs you to stay at Junes forever, only do it if you actually want to. But I mean, Teddie's pretty happy there..."

“No, and still in school. Third year. Lots of... stuff happened. What about you? Got your life lined up and everything?” If he does, Katsuki might be the tiniest bit jealous. Just a little.

"I... Well." He scratched his neck nervously. "I'm kinda trying to become a songwriter? Taking music production classes. It sort of helps to know Rise, but I'm trying not to rely too much on that, you know?"

Maybe it’s just because of the Magician arcana, but he doesn’t want to say that to a Yosuke he just met five seconds ago!

“Mage. Cool name. Classy. I guess we just... hang out now? I mean the other guys I know aren’t really... here at the moment, so...” This is... kinda awkward.

"If you want to?" He shrugged.

"Do you have a b-... Are you seeing anyone? Are you in school or work?" Normal questions, right?

There’s a really long pause.

“Yeah, uh. We’ve never met but you can call me Katsuki. Because of the, you know, we’re both Yosuke.”
