❛ i know so many last words. but i’ll never know his. ❜ (serena & june) @bcssbitchs
june couldn’t help the way her mouth turned into the most subtle of smirks as she thought back to the night that she and several other handmaids had massacred fred waterford. it had been satisfying and there was no denying that. “hm, can’t recall. he was kind of hard to understand as he was coughing up and choking on his own blood. i’d say he was screaming more than saying anything remotely intelligible.” she leaned back on the park bench and glanced up at serena, the smirk still on her face as her eyes twinkled. did it upset serena? did it make her angry or sad? good. june couldn’t care less if it did. fred deserved what june had delivered to him a hundred times over and perhaps on some level, serena still deserved the same. at the end of the day, mrs. waterford was complicit in everything her husband did and was no victim, despite her best efforts to paint herself as one at one point. if anything, june supposed she was surprised that that was the first thing she was bringing up the first time they’d run into each other here. “let’s face it... the only good thing that came out of that man, that... scumbag? is your son. fred didn’t deserve to have any immortalized last words.” she shrugged, glancing over at her daughter napping away in her stroller next to her. “you wanna hit me for it? better go ahead while nichole is napping so she doesn’t have to see it, i don’t really like the thought of exposing her to violence at this age. but it’s not going to change the fact that the world is a better place without him in it.”
