There are some mad ideas here, but it's a fun ride.
The crew arrive on a planet who surface is constantly in flux. Mountains spring up without warning, flash floods, etc. Disembodied aliens secretly take control of Mr. Spock and use him to save them and the planet. But one aliens wants to leave with Spock and live/travel on the Enterprise.
Well, it's certainly not boring. Every few pages introduces a new threat, and takes the story in a new direction. The inconsistencies with the tv show are not as bad here.
