Hey, I have been prescribed birth control called junel. I haven’t started taking it yet but are there any health risks for this birth control? Thanks
So let me tell you first - WebMD, Drugs.com, and RxList are all wonderful websites that give you lots of details about any medication, including risks, side effects, negative interactions, and so on.
As for your risks, you can likely assume the standard risks that comes with a combination pill.
If you’ve been prescribed this, then it’s assumed they don’t really apply to you, such as that you are not a smoker, you do not have a history of heart issues, you do not have a history of certain cancers, no risk of liver disease, don’t have seizures, etc.
And while that all sounds scary, the risks of issues with your liver, veins, gallbladder, etc are very, very low if you are just a “normal” person. Birth control is very safe for any average person.
