Morning people we all good? Shoutout and many thanks to São Paulo, Curitiba and Belo Horizonte in Brazil, Johannesburg in South Africa and of course Bristol here in the UK for the plays on Spotify much appreciated. Here's a track on the popular list called The Robots Are Down a bit of Jungle/Drum & Bass for the morning and enjoy. :)
Rebuilt, Remodeled, and back for Revenge!
Hi! Not sure if you care about Donkey Kong but if you do, what form do you think the next game will take? 2D, 3D, another Country, something more Jungle Beat-like, something totally different, etc.?
I think we're rapidly approaching a cutoff point where you could consider the Donkey Kong series to be "dormant." Retro isn't making another one (they're too busy with Metroid, apparently) and nobody else is taking up the slack.
If it gets to be too much longer I think the next game will be its own thing. It's getting to be too far out from the end of the last series. I could see them maybe doing yet another take on the classic Donkey Kong formula -- we've already had DK94, we had Mario vs. Donkey Kong, but we haven't seen a three-dimensional take on that, not really. I could see a new puzzle game in that format, where Mario is chasing down Donkey Kong for some reason.
But really, with Nintendo, who even knows. They aren't like other companies and they're impossible to predict to me. They never just have "ideas," they refine and mutate them until they find something more elevated than that. It could turn out to be anything.
Just got back from the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention! Had a dang good time as always and scored my first Gamecube import! I’ll have a full write-up soon, and boy I can’t wait to share it!
