“Jungle Drum” is the third single from Icelandic singer-songwriter Emilíana Torrini’s third album, “Me and Armini”. It was released as a digital download on March 9, 2009 and later as a CD single in Germany on June 19, 2009.

Critics received the song very positively; Popmatters reviewer Spencer Tricker called "Jungle Drum" the album's "catchiest song" (alongside "Big Jumps"), "as good as the Fisherman's Woman singles". He also praised the song for having "an irresistible chorus with some completely unexpected interludes." Matthew Allard of ARTISTdirect stated that the song "was intended to be an iPhone advertisement". Clickmusic reviewer Francis Jolley called the song "a lively, fun little gem reminiscent of Nancy Sinatra in her heyday" and "infectious Scandinavian pop." Both Popmatters and Clickmusic reviews praised the song's rhythm section, calling it impossible "not to tap your foot along."

In 2009 she was also seen in the TV show “Germany's Next Top Model”. As a result, the song gained great popularity in German-speaking countries. It was scheduled to appear in the dance video game Just Dance 3, but did not appear for unknown reasons.

In 2010, the track was used as the theme song in a video created for the Icelandic government's official campaign "Inspired by Iceland" to attract tourists to Iceland.

Emilíana Torrini Davíðsdóttir, is better known as Emilíana Torrini, she is an Icelandic singer and songwriter.

The Colorist Orchestra, formed in 2013, is an unusual pop/chamber music collective founded and led by Aarich Jespers and Kobe Proesmans.

The eight-piece outfit is characterized by its members: Kobe Proesmans (percussion, calabash), Aarich Jespers (percussion, flapamba), Sep François (melodic percussion, hammered mbar), Wim De Busser (grand piano, prepared piano, keys), Tim Vandenbergh (double bass, electric bass), Gerrit Valckenaers (bass clarinet, stones, mirrors, glass bowls, electronics), Jeroen Baert (violin), Karel Coninx (viola).

Björk's work influenced many musicians as we have seen in our posts – what about her country Well, if you ask me, Iceland became a hub for many intriguing strands of music thanks to her with Emilíana Torrini being a fine example of that. She reminds me us of Björk, though I'm sure the latter wouldn't have done something as goofy as the tune on the link. Moreover, Mrs. Torrini does share her ethos, but she does move that one towards the sound that could be described as a pop with a weird view. Sure, we could describe Björk like that, though she looks beyond the boundaries of that. Mind you, this shouldn't suggest a negative view on Mrs. Torrini – she's a delightful singer –, this is yet another case of Bjork influencing the others with her attitude and not her sound.
