You believe guitars are made just for Han Hyeongjun and Han Hyeongjun only, because as you sit on his bed, with his beloved guitar in your hands, trying to strum along to some chords he had taught you just a few minutes ago, you want to scream in frustration.
How the fuck was your boyfriend so good at playing the guitar? How long has he been playing?? Why are the strings so incredibly sharp and how does Hyeongjun not get any bruises from practising so much?!
Hyeongjun himself can’t help but laugh when you heave a heavy sigh, scooting closer to you to grab at your wrist. “You okay?”
You slump, leaning towards him, shutting your eyes when he starts to prod and massage at your sore fingers. “I hate guitars.”
Hyeongjun chuckles, blowing lightly at your hands. “I’m sure you do.” You feel the calluses on his fingertips, and wonder just how long he's had his fingers bruised to get it like that.
“How are you so good at such an instrument? Just how much talent do you hold?”
Unbeknownst to you, Hyeongjun finds such comfort and pride in your words, biting back a proud grin. He’s been playing the guitar for almost all his life, picking it up as a child. Days of doubting himself, weeks of intense practising because he thinks he’s not as good as others, years of thinking he should probably give up, almost dissipating at your words.
“None,” He mutters truthfully. “I just practice a lot.”
“I don’t believe that,” you reply, picking his guitar yet once again. This is a little habit of yours, Hyeongjun notices. As much as you absolutely despise and struggle at a certain thing, you keep trying again and again to find at least a little bit of progress. He finds it cute.
Though, he does have to stop and comfort you at times when you go too far.
With a determined look on your face, with motivation you have from absolutely nothing, you place your fangers back on the guitar, and find them pressing against the strings into an E chord, just as your boyfriend had taught you.
However, once you strum, you groan at the false notes it emits, throwing your arms in the air. Hyeongjun bursts out in laughter, the small grumpy frown on your lips causing him more happiness than he would have ever thought.
Despite your frustration, and hate for the guitar, you can’t help but feel proud that you were the cause of Hyeongjun’s laughter. There’s something about it that tugs on your heartstrings.
“You’re supposed to put your middle finger on the second fret of the second string,”
“Sorry, guitar genius.”
Instead of trying again, you pass the guitar to him, and let him have a go to play. You always found his guitar playing so very pleasant. He’s just too good for you to pass the offer to listen. Instantly, a smile curls his lips up, as he naturally finds his flow on the guitar, playing chords you could never even learn playing.
As he happily plays his guitar, you can’t help but feel so very proud of Hyeongjun and how far he’s come. You’re so glad you met him, you’re so glad you get to spend time with him and make him happy, it’s truly all you’ve ever wanted to do.
As he makes a small mistake, and winces embarrassingly at it, you can’t help but laugh, and lean forward to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. You can’t help but think you absolutely love him with all your heart when he shyly crashes into his pillows with flustered moises.
