Imagine what would have happened if Juniper (the jackalope) had been the embodiment of Jaune's Aura, which had separated from him during his poisoning? The tiny bundle of Aura would have gradually grown, taking the form of a rabbit, and its growth would have meant an increase in the volume of Aura. At the end of the journey through Ever After, Juniper would have merged with Jaune, at the behest of the Tree/Blacksmith, thereby returning Aura and giving him rabbit ears and deer antlers.
