14 ("laying your head on someone’s shoulder") for Pikelan? Can be soft and/or angsty, your call (if you choose to answer it, natch)!
“I’m gonna find you, little bit!” Grog called as he searched through the bushes, a wide smile on his face as stifled giggling crept out from behind the firewood pile. Grog gave a roar, not the rage filled one he’d let out on the battlefield, but a one meant to entertain, one that had lit up Vesper’s face when she was little and quickly started to do the same for Juniper. The stifled giggling picked up, and Grog cocked his head, dramatically moving toward the pile and past where Pike and Scanlan sat on the porch.
“I told ya big guy, she’s quite the talent,” Scanlan said with a grin, drawing a chuckle from Pike.
“You’re tellin’ me,” Grog muttered, feigning frustration, “I’ve been lookin’ all over!” At his words, the little chuckle from behind the woodpile flared up again. “Pikey, can you help me find her?” Pike straightened herself, putting on a dramatic scowl.
“Well I don’t know, it’s a hard task, but let me…” she extended her hand, as if casting a spell of guidance as a little head peaked out, watching Pike work, “There. Go find her buddy.” Grog huffed, setting off toward the source of the laughter slowly, drawing out his movements to Juniper’s excitement. When Grog found her, she giggled loudly, taking off running with Grog in pursuit.
As the two of them chuckled and smiled, Pike leaned her head on Scanlan’s shoulder, winding her hand into his. He leaned his head on top of hers, a content smile on his face.
“Sounds like Kaylie might get back a little early,” Scanlan muttered, “Whole extra day with everyone together.” Pike smiled, squeezing Scanlan’s hand.
“That’s amazing,” she muttered, kissing Scanlan’s cheek and leaning back in, “I’m excited to see her.” Scanlan smiled softly, though tears formed in the corner of his eyes.
“Yeah,” he said, as if saying much else would shatter him, “I’m excited to just… Have some time as a family.” Pike’s eyes drifted to Grog as he still chased Juniper, both laughing all the while.
“You know, killing dragons and shit was fun and all, but honestly, I could get used to this,” Pike muttered, drawing a chuckle from Scanlan as he squeezed her hand tightly.
“Yeah,” Scanlan muttered, pressing a kiss to the scar on her cheek, “Me too.”
