Send a manga panel you want me to redraw?
i feel like andrew and neil out on the media would be like ryan reynolds and blake lively, posting ugly pictures of each other on instagram, or pictures of other celebrities but the other, saying shit about each other, but at the same time praising their accomplishments and supporting each other publicly no matter what and just being a healthy, happy and carefree relationship like what they deserve <3
my holy trinity
the serotonin this gives me
bts' friendship hits different. the way they're all just so in tune with each other. just their way of slowly swaying like seaweed together and somehow being able to keep four different conversations going at the same time while someone is screaming the lyrics while another is dancing like there's no tomorrow is just so. beautiful.
I think some ppl are disappointed the second half of the story wasn’t about Clive realizing he cant deny himself anymore etc and like a lesser writer probably would’ve made it about Maurice/Clive as it follows a more traditional romance trope for them to break up halfway with Clive coming back at the end. But that story essentially challenges nothing about the societal structures or the status quo-they’d just end up as two rich dudes who move to France and have fancy parties there instead of England, which is the type of queer lifestyle people glamorize still today.
that is such a great point anon, and definitely 100% if forster went with maurice/clive then I don’t think the story would’ve been that impactful. like in a way, there would be a happy ending if forster sold it that way that oo look they’re back together and let’s just ignore how toxic it is bec now they’re in france or italy having fancy parties, and it wouldn't be how it is with the ending we do have
like I just love that idea of alec being like this force to be reckoned with that shakes up the edwardian class structure (on a micro if not macro level), and shakes up maurice’s life and his beliefs and everything, like alec is the heart and soul of maurice (1913) and (1987), its bec of him that the whole theme of class is introduced in maurice, and he’s why the truly happy ending is possible. and like forster was just so ahead of his time and was inspired by whitman and edward carpenter and believed that actual happiness lied not only in companionship, but a companionship that’s out in the world, without class or laws, without the greed for wealth or power or position
