Congratulations to McKinley & Matt who got married yesterday at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards!
About six months ago McKinley called me and asked if I'd design and make ditty bags for her bridesmaids. I collected some details... she was getting married at Pippin Hill on October 15th, Easton Events was helping her plan... her girls were going to wear 3 different shades of blue Amsale dresses, the guys were going to wear light gray suits and a bold yellow tie. For the decor she wanted light, natural, flowy, nothing ridged or expected. She loved vintage. She loved meaningful details. I knew she and I were going to get along just fine...
Since McKinley was obviously open to ideas... I suggested that she ask each bridesmaid and mom to send in a piece of fabric that was meaningful to them. Then we used these fabrics as the inside lining for each bag. On the outside -- I mixed textures, fabrics and colors to create one-of-a-kind ditty bags for each girl.
For McKinley -- it seemed fitting to use vintage lace, quilted on the top with a vintage inspired gold/yellow and ivory damask on the bottom. Inside I lined it with a pale blue and ivory cloth for her "something blue". And hand-stitched her wedding date, 10.15.11, inside for a sweet reminder down the road.
It seemed only fitting that yesterday was one of the most beautiful fall days here in Virginia. The leaves are just starting to turn, there was a warm breeze, and the sky was as blue as could be. Congratulations to you, McKinley! It was wonderful to be a part of those little details that helped make your day what it was.
{Stay tuned for more photos of the bridesmaids' bags and the wedding day itself!}
