HEARTWARMING: local vigilante finds that she actually does care about others (she hates it)
very old art of Jules pre-vitriol incident that I never shared here: with alternate coloring below!!
“Come on, let’s let him finish his stupid monologue before you kill him, at least.” -quoth @a-fiendish-ideologue
Inspired by some recent conversations about Juno and Jules, as well as the latter's return to masking up as the Phantom of the Antimacassar.
posting this fraction of a wip because I think it explains a lot about Jules (warning for having a bit of suggestive content below)
“There was no afterglow, because nothing had happened. That was exactly the way Jules thought these things had to go- she inevitably attracted some poor soul, flirted a bit, politely ended things, and kept up her reputation. But nobody actually touched her.
Sometimes, she kept it up for a few weeks, drawing on a new sort of attractiveness. Not quite the silver tongued performer, no longer the far too respectable notary, but something else: just Jules. She often went for the handsome and mysterious route, these days.
Most ladies liked that.
It hadn’t always been that way. Her surface fiancée had been quite affectionate when it struck her, and Jules didn’t mind that- nor did she seek it out. But lately, she found that her reputation was a double edged sword.
No one dared brush shoulders with her, giving her the space she desired in crowds. And yet no one dared put a comforting hand on her shoulder, either, when she looked particularly melancholy.
These days, they didn’t even ask.”
