How did you get so good at drawing on paper????

draw instead of doing class assignments/homework   

but really, it’s just a looooot of practice drawing over and over, and studying things i wanted to improve on 😂 like those are the biggest factors i think. i personally always took things one at a time for improvement. like if i wanted to work on anatomy, i chose one or two small things to improve on at a time, and eventually those things looked ok and were second nature, so not much erasing needed xD i think practicing on both the paper and tablet help too, cos even tho undoing/fixing mistakes on the comp is easier, it’s still helping you learn motions and shapes you need for drawing ppl/objects. they work together well i think, cos as i learn things on paper, i can use them on the computer as well.

i’m also a grown ass woman so i’ve been drawing for a long time XD i’m self taught, but that just means i learn everything a million times slower than other people. i think if you can afford it, taking classes would help you can learn stuff faster.

but here for the record, an art time line:

^13 y/o hchano [aka the stage i just put everyone in robes cos what are human bodies??? this is also the year i got the internet and discovered millions of ppl who drew better than i did loool]

^16 y/o hchano [aka i’ve been trying to draw actual bodies for 3 years now and it’s going ok... idk why i thought lazy photoshop improved this pic but there it is]

and from then on you can basically look through my tumblr  trad tag [+chrono for oldest to newest if ur not on mobile] for 2012+ to see my continued slow improvement lol. like i said, i’m old, so it’s just a lot of time invested @_@ but hopefully seeing my older stuff helps put things in perspective tho! :D/
