I don’t really know how to start this post, so I’m just gonna ramble about Mickey being in drag.
He seems to genuinely enjoy it, here’s a clip I recorded of “Mickey’s Big Break”.
Notice how he said “we go shopping for some new clothes”? He still holds up his usual upbeat tone he doesn’t even mention gender. The phrase “new clothes” also implies that they’re new additions to their wardrobes.
In the next scene, you immediately notice the difference between Mickey and Donald’s make up.
The most Donald has is a pair of eyelashes and eye shadow in the first pic, while Mickey has eyelashes, blush, and lipstick. And it’s not even that bad, layered on thick? , sure. But you can tell he really tried! Not to mention he’s smiling almost the entire time and seemed to be shopping around, since he had a different outfit on at first and Donald was waiting for him.
And at the end of the clip, you can see he can walk in heels just fine while Donald trips. Bro’s USED to walking in heels or at the very least has done so before.
There’s other examples like this too, like the salon-o-matic scene.
He isn’t shocked or appalled, he looks more coy. He playfully twirls his hair while saying that it’s probably for Minnie, even though he seems to like the look for himself. Kinda like a guilty pleasure.
Again he says “clothes” instead of dress (for anyone who doesn’t know, he says “thanks for the clothes Cinderella!”), Mickey really loves his gender neutral terms huh? And again, he doesn’t look ashamed or embarrassed, heck, he thanks her!
This isn’t even mentioning his past appearances wearing drag either. So, in conclusion, Mickey Mouse may just have a fluid concept of gender and gender expression or maybe he’s just a closeted drag queen. Who knows? I’m just insane:)
