I constantly see this trope in fanfics where character A and B are about to go to poundtown for the first time and A says something along the lines of: “Last chance. No turning back after this point. I won’t be able to stop.” Listen, that’s alright if you’re about to take a rollercoaster ride and I get that you want your character to be edgy and badass, but if you think about it, characters shouldn’t be badass or edgy in bed. Consent isn’t something you give once and can never take back. No matter if you haven’t even started or are in the middle of it, saying “stop” and “no” is always okay and should always be respected. If your story is about dub- or non-con, fair enough, but a lot of people romanticise the shit out of this kind of sentence and sell it as wholesome.
It’s just a pet peeve of mine.
