The Dean-as-Cas’s vessel theory I’ve seen floating about is... interesting, but there’s two problems:
.) Michael’s already got his ideal vessel in this universe in Dean. He can just hop out of Adam for a while and hop back later, if he needs to. Adam can stick around! We love Adam.
.) Y’ALL. That would be entirely too intimate for Dean and Cas to do something like that right now. If TALKING to each other like adults is too much for Dean and Cas to handle at the moment, something tells me it’d be WAY too much for them to be able to manage Dean letting Cas occupy his body and use it as a vessel.
.) The portal is angelic/divine in nature - Cas can go through it just fine! No need for him to piggyback inside Dean like Benny had to do (for whatever reason).
.) Nevermind I said two problems but there were three.
.) Dammit.
.) Btw, I’m not saying it couldn’t possibly ever happen - in Purgatory, things are very different, after all! - but from my perspective, I just can’t see it working. Or, maybe I should say - I could see a case being made for it, but don’t see the purpose of it, since Michael does seem to be on their side, after all. If things get bad enough with Chuck (as it seems it inevitably will), I could absolutely see Michael and Adam agreeing to swap rides (so to speak) with Dean so he can take on Chuck as HolySword!Dean, his ultimate form (in this universe, I think, anyway).
.) On second thought, it would essentially be like the ultimate expression of closeness, trust, and love between an angel and their beloved. Especially if they had, say, a more profound bond than the average and angel and human might have. [philosoraptor.gif] And it would make an interesting subtexty alternative to a love scene. HMM. What was Jensen saying about - give people what they want, in a way they don’t expect it?
