Watched Good Omens 3. Spoilers, naturally.
This is (hopefully) the only post I’ll make on this, I’m not even active in the fandom anymore and the hyperfixation is LONG gone, but GO is also the reason I started Tumblr so it feels wrong to not comment on it on some level.
I fucking hate it. There are good bits, obviously, but any good bits are just… the end ruins it. I understand the appeal to some people, but it makes it feel as if the entire show (and the book) just… don’t matter.
The people they show in the end aren’t the people we’ve grown to care for. They’re Asa and Anthony, two humans who know nothing about Aziraphale and Crowley or their relationship. They never had to fight the system to love each other, they never had to balance their need to protect each other with their duties to their head offices. They didn’t even have the same personalities!
The gambling-car-revenge subplot was stupid, unnecessary, and took up time that could have been spent doing actually important things (Aziracrow actually talking, developing the final bookshop conversation better if it had to happen, hell even just showing Asa and Anthony more so we could MAYBE care about them). It was 8+ minutes of an irrelevant side plot with characters we’ve never met.
Satan? God? Why are they there. What is this. This all feels like we’re erasing the meaning of everything that’s happened.
Asa and Anthony are an AU of Crowley and Aziraphale, and that’s fine, but it’s also not them. It will never be them. And that pisses me off.
Oh, and as @ineffableaddiction mentioned, the fate of the entire universe was left entirely to a depressed demon with clear substance abuse issues. I love Crowley as much as the next guy, but what the fuck
AND ANOTHER THING! Aziraphale is an ASSHOLE. A genuine ASSHOLE. He’s an AWFUL FUCKING PERSON in this season and I’m so fucking mad about it.
I have so many things. Edit to add: God is also an asshole
