Do you have any pet peeves regarding the ( League ) community's view of Jhin ? I, for example, hate when people insist on Ahri being a ' slut ' & say she has intercourse with people to take their souls, & such.

Ever since I started posting Falling Down to AO3 (just updated with my third chapter tonight!), I’ve been more and more curious as to what AO3′s various fics with Jhin as a character in them look like.

To wit I have yet to be disappointed… if I were looking for meme fuel.

Given there’s been a lack of Jhin blogs besides me recently, I can’t say the phenomenon is limited to AO3, although I’ve had better luck finding good Jhins on Tumblr (when they were still around) than AO3. Primarily what I don’t like is the dumbing down of his character in an effort to spin him as sympathetic or saying things like “he’s unable to control himself :( really he wants to be nice :(:(” and any variant that inevitably also exist. That’s a trope universal to any villain, but with Jhin I’ve seen that shit taken up to 11.

I’ve been writing this character since his release. Not once have I considered the idea that he is in any way somehow a murderous “woobie” type character, even with the advent of Riot’s long form lore. Riot may not be hitting the mark they could be with Jhin, but I doubt even they are foolish enough to take him down that path.

So why is it that every time I turn around there is someone trying to say that (their) Jhin is sympathetic? Cute, even? Forget not jiving with me, it doesn’t even fucking compute. This dude earned the title of “Golden Demon” for a reason. It’s not because he was particularly nice to the people he brutally murdered.

But then I suppose the appeal of Jhin is for the “aesthetic” types that like waxing off to that sort of stuff but not to the harrowing murder and gore, so they have to distill it down as some sort of twisted avoidance of the biggest point of the character.

Ugh.

Y’know, I REALLY hate those ‘reblog if you agree with this!’ posts, cause like, no. Fuck you. I reblog shit cause it amuses me or gives a take I feel needs to be shared. Not cause you’re saying I’m a transphobe if I don’t reblog you’re one-liner about how trans mane/women are real men/women, which is kinda a no-shit-sherlock to anyone you’re actually gonna reach with that post. Should be a no-shit-sherlock to everybody, but passing around a note isn’t gonna change that it isn’t and that sucks. It’s just gonna put your blog in a lot of places with people who will, from that post, automatically think your chill and someone worth a glance at least.
