Terezi Pyrope from Homestuck ♎️ JUST1C3
Summer 2018
My girl TZ for ya’ll,
I didn’t know which version to post so here’s the two of them.
Terezi should be technically correct.
YES.
thought about the homestuck retcon too hard, here's some yapping.
so like i don't really think i ever actually processed the retcon really. not beyond like "oh yeah these characters did these actions and plot changed yay." even though there's so much more to it. first there's the backdrop of EVERYONE IS DEAD AND EVERYTHING IS FUCKED. which, again, didn't really think about. GAME OVER happened and I was just still reeling from that so it was hard to I guess get into the headspace of the cast at the moment.
What's really interesting about the retcon to me is Terezi. Terezi is the orchestrator of the whole thing, from ultimately getting June to master her control over it to reviving Vriska. (which I feel most thoughts about the retcon get absorbed into like an 8-ball singularity) The retcon is necessary, yeah. The action of preventing Vriska's death and revealing Gamzee does actually fix everything, yeah. However it is still a choice ultimately fueled by Terezi's own desires before that, I think. Many people have already talked at length on Vrisrezi, so I won't try to copy them here, but it really reflects in what Terezi says in her final log to Vriska.
Post-retcon Terezi is left frustrated, feeling hollow, though that second part is less retcon-related. It's this thing this Other Terezi did. It's nothing Terezi herself actually did, just this Other Terezi. I could get into aspects now but I won't. The way the retcon goes is the better timeline, definitely, absolutely and I won't hear a thing about Vriska okay. Vriska has a narrative reason to be revived. But also the effects it has on Terezi are really interesting and I think she as a character deserves more thought. Yeah. :]
thoughts on terezi?
Terezi. What isn't there to say about Terezi. Do we start with Vriska? Because I feel like in order to understand Terezi you need to understand Vriska. Anyways we're not talking about her, that's another topic entirely yadda yadda Vriska thing. Terezi's fun and I like her but also incredibly like. tragic? Even ignoring the blindness and "mom who is a literal egg" thing. Her whole "I'm going to be weird on purpose so I don't accidentally act vulnerable" persona thing. Being alone in the woods with like hundreds of hanged plushies. She dated the canonical descendant of her species Jesus (I was just going to say the second coming but unfortunately I'm in multiple fandoms) for a bit and like honestly thinking about it maybe that's something to be talked about beyond "yeah they were a thing for a bit" but it is frankly something of a footnote ignoring the time she literally had someone rewrite history to say "You don't need him." Did I forget to mention that. There was more to the rewriting history thing but one part of it was just to play a prank on the person doing so. Terezi would never seen this prank come to fruition because 1. the version of her who planned it ceased to exist shortly after 2. she died. Idk what that was all about. She also has some of her mistakes fixed by time travel multiple times (rewriting only counts as one) and that doesn't really do anything. She's fucking kickass and hilarious though. Please let yourself be vulnerable with someone other than your poisonous co-dependent will-they-won't-they is-this-what-i-really-want mutual murder-suicide yuri girlfriend.
It’s like justice only if justice was decided based on the toss of a coin only the person tossing the coin is blind and has already decided the outcome
