NEW BYLER VARIANT!!!

Byler as Zach and Gabe from the Fiction podcast Keep it Steady in which Zack is Mike and Will is Gabe.

Also Max is Tori, Robin is Krista, Vickie is Leslie, Jane is Ponni, Lucas is Andy and Dustin is Horrace (except he actually goes to their school so he's around all the time and not just in the later parts of the story)

This is the plot of KIS btw but I changed the names to fit the AU (taken from the synopsis on Spotify):

Seventeen-year-old Mike is not a moral crusader. He's a snarky, well-liked stoner who attends detention about as often as Algebra. Unfortunately, he's also a closeted bisexual in 2005, in a town where even the potheads are conservatives. When school firebrand Will suggests they pretend to date in order to take the heat off two female students (Robin and Vickie) who are actually in love, Mike knows it's the worst idea he's ever heard. Then he does it anyway.

Anyways it's absolutely perfect and everyone fits into their roles but I'm the only one that gets it cuz like 3 people listen to Keep it Steady despite the fact that it's AMAZING. Anyways we'll call this shit JustBrave or something.

Y'all should totally listen to Keep it Steady btw. It's awesome 10/10 would recommend even though it only updates twice a year.

More notes about JustBrave (a Keep it Steady x Byler Variant)

Once again recommending Keep it Steady to anyone and everyone willing to listen please please please it's amazing!

•For the rewrites sake all the members of the party besides Mike and Max will be part of the Social Justice club at Hawkins High. I won't give them similar stories to anyone in the actual club minus Lucas having the same plot as Andy because it fits so well. In addition to this Robin and Vickie will also be part of the club but they're only a year above the main group

•So I was thinking about how Gabe (the character in the podcast that Will is replacing) moves to their town some time before the story begins meaning that I can make JustBrave a Hellcali variant!! (Woohoo🎉)

•In the podcast Zach (the character Mike is replacing) is kinda short and his height is mentioned a lot but that's probably because it's all from his pov and he's kind of insecure about it. Alternatively in the AU Mike grew really quickly making him a little too tall (?) and lanky to match the internal insecurity about his height that Zach has. He'd still probably make fun of Will for being shorter though because it would be on theme for the og story

•There's a really interesting plot that involves Tori (the character Max is replacing) and her little brother Cody. It's really important to the story and I don't want to leave it out because of the Madwheeler potential and because it's just really cool so in the AU Billy is Max's little brother. He'll practically be a completely original character with no relation to the canon Billy but I'll use his name as like an Easter egg lol.

Alternatively I could give Tori and Cody's storyline to Max and her mom but I'll have to think about that more...

•Finally in the podcast there's a really heavy focus on homophobia. Like the social justice club focusses on all types of injustice but it could probably double as a GSA with all the focus they put on homophobia as the story progresses. Most of the homophobia comes from jocks at the school and I think it would be kind of interesting to have Chance attend one of the SJC meetings. I just kinda like fanon Chance and it gives way for ByChance and jealous Mike hehe
