Hi I just want to say that your gift wrapping skills are phenomenal do you you have any tips for wrapping odd shaped objects
honestly for me it’s just a lot of trial and error - my ability to conceptualize 2D to 3D and vice versa is pretty limited, which is why it’s so hard and takes so long for me to make my own sewing patterns, haha.
odd-shaped packages that are still symmetrical are my favorites to figure out and the only thing i can think to say about it is just try to make sure you’re doing the same thing on each side. that makes it easier for me, personally.
and also don’t be afraid to unfold and try something new if a certain fold just isn’t working out. i usually don’t tape anything til i’m sure it’s what i want. and when i do i use very small pieces of tape so if i have to remove it, there’s less risk of ripping the paper badly.
the hardest things to wrap are ones that don’t have straight edges or symmetry. example: my mom decided everyone this year is getting blankets, so i had to wrap like… twelve blankets?? idk, i kinda lost count. and they weren’t in boxes, so basically it was like… wrapping vaguely rectangular but mostly amorphous bundles of fabric as is. i had no system for this, i swear i did something a little different with each one and some of them looked like shit, but the last few i did were at least somewhat neat.
then i had to wrap some pillows??? bc she got some cute pillows for the kids???
i swear my mom had more irregular shapes for me to wrap than rectangles this year. every time she came downstairs with another blanket i felt a little more like sisyphus. “i have to go to sam’s again to see if they still have some of those blankets-“ “MOM NO”
