The Quarry boys sleeping headcanons

Dylan moves around a lot in his sleep. If you share a bed with him, good luck. You'll wake up in the middle of the night feeling suffocated because he managed to end up on top of you, or you'll wonder why it's so dark in the morning only to realize he's thrown his arm over your face.

Ryan snores, LOUD, and he is super embarrassed by it. He will adamantly deny snoring, even though he knows he does, until presented with a recording of it. Then, look out for your phone, because he'll be determined to get it deleted.

Jacob is a cuddle bug. He tries to hide it at camp because he knows the guys would make fun of him, but he sleeps more soundly hugging a pillow. Or a person. Preferably a person.

Nick is the lightest sleeper. Even the slightest of noises can wake him up. Sometimes he wakes himself up. He'll often be groggy in the mornings due to poor quality sleep.

Max, though, is a heavy sleeper. He can and will sleep through anything. He's the type of person who needs three alarms just to rouse him from sleep. If he's not awake on time, be prepared to try anything to get him up.

Can we talk about how Max Brinly canonically bruises easily?

Okay, so not technically. "Watch it, I bruise easily" is a snarky throwaway line from Max meant to irritate Travis. It's not serious, and may not even be true. But like. I want to believe.

Okay hear me out:

Nick and Jacob are both deeply insecure. But I think that Nick fears that he's not enough-- not cool enough, not funny enough, not charming enough, not manly enough-- while Jacob fears that he's too much-- too stupid, too emotional, too needy.

But they both try to cope by pushing away that part of themselves. Nick has the tendency to go along with what the others want. He'll copy Jacob and Dylan, let them push him into things he might otherwise be uncomfortable with, act in ways he thinks they would ("hey, do me!") because they're his model of cool. Meanwhile, Jacob acts overconfident. He's insensitive, he's crass, he's mean ("one of Ryan's stupid podcasts"), he acts like he doesn't have a care in the world. And both of them are willing to open up about their vulnerabilities to the people they have feelings for, if they're able to get over the insecurities first.

I think that's why they butt heads at times. They're two sides of the same coin.

Dylan has an artistic streak, but he can't draw or paint for the life of him. Instead:

-He can bake really well. He makes cute cookies and fancy cakes. "Baking is a science but decoration is an art," he'll say, both of which play to his strengths.

-He of course has an affinity for music, and he's dabbled in guitar. He never liked to show off to his friends, but he'd play along to campfire songs for the kids at Hackett's Quarry. (Let's try not to think about how if he loses his hand he loses his ability to play.)

-He can ice skate surprisingly well? He's not a professional-level figure skater or anything, but he can skate circles around his friends, especially when half of them struggle to stay upright. Jacob is also a decent skater since he played hockey for a bit, but he doesn't have the fancy footwork that Dylan does.

Jacob definitely has a stuffed animal from when he was a kid that he still keeps around as a decoration. It's in surprisingly good shape considering how rough-and-tumble he was. It sits on a shelf in his bedroom now and he'll cover it up with a book or something whenever someone comes over until he trusts them enough to move it, and then pouts when they don't notice his secret because no one is analyzing the random shelf of knickknacks on his wall to see if something's changed.

Any time I post a headcanon or anything I've written I'm always like "oh god I hope there's not a piece of canon trivia I missed that contradicts this"
