Just started replaying The Quarry after a literal year of not touching it lol. I started like half a dozen games but only played all the way through once, to miserable results. Everyone either died or turned, I feel like I still had tons of gameplay I missed out on cause there were no characters left alskjfdslkf

I have the death rewind feature but I was determined not to use it, at least not until after I completed this second play through on my own

Buuut my first big fuck up was Abi getting beheaded by Nick and I didn't like that alsjfsdkl so when the death rewind option came up, I took it. So Abi lives to see another chapter

So far Dylan has lost a hand and Jacob got kidnapped by the hunter guys. And Nick is obviously a werewolf. But everyone else is hanging in there

Hold on. I just had my mind opened to this possibility like two minutes ago.

- Nick and Abi have tension. They canonically have crushes on each other but are both too shy to pursue anything. - Nick and Jacob have tension. They're close friends who compete with and rib each other with Nick canonically looking up to Jacob and trying to impress him, and if you ask me trying to hastily cover up him liking him with "GIRLS like Jacob" - Nick and Emma have tension. They make out at the truth or dare game and get too into it and there's Drama about it, and Emma later compliments him and says he's a good kisser - Jacob and Emma have tension. They had a summer fling that Jacob wants to continue and that Emma thinks is too difficult, but she goes back to him at the lake - Emma and Abi have tension. A lot of players initially thought Abi had a crush on Emma and she's secretly sketching a very detailed drawing of her at the beginning of the game.

What I'm saying is this can all be solved by polyamory. I now live in a world where the Truth or Dare incident is even more interesting and juicy. Emma, choosing Nick partly to make Jacob jealous and partly because she's just always kind of wanted to see what it's like to kiss Nick and can't give up the opportunity. Jacob, fired up and jealous but he can't figure out why he's equally jealous of both Nick and Emma. Abi, sad and jealous herself because she's sad to watch Nick kiss someone else but she's also sad to watch Emma kiss someone else it turns out.

Hilda & Marianne

hilda starts out treating marianne like someone she can nudge into doing work for her, because that’s hilda’s whole thing - she acts lazy, cute, and helpless so other people handle the boring stuff. but marianne is so genuinely anxious and clumsy that hilda ends up stepping in anyway. she teaches her, fixes things for her, checks on her, and by the a support they’re having tea and pastries together like it’s their little routine.

the best part is that they bring out such a soft side in each other. marianne gets to laugh without immediately shrinking back into herself, and hilda gets to care for someone without pretending it’s only manipulation. hilda literally thinks marianne is cute. the game says it. i’m just agreeing with the text.

and their ending is so close to being romantic already! they keep writing letters, support each other’s future, start this whole artisan-school project together, and hilda keeps sending marianne accessories that become famous treasures. girl. that’s your wife.
