Bionic was supposed to be her Renaissance, her BRAT summer! It was just too ahead of its time and has become Xtina’s cult classic.

I literally cant believe it has been 7 years since Bionic came out.
This is the best album a mainstream pop artist has ever released, and it was so unfairly treated.
Bionic had Nicki Minaj before she had it big, Sia before the entire world knew her name. Tricky made sounds that in 20 years will still sound like the future of pop. It was the perfect balance between a strong sexual identity and sentimental vulnerability; the heart of a mother, the voice of an artist, it was an hour long feminist anthem.
It reigns in a realm that was too weird for pop listeners and too mainstream for music curators. The public wasn't interested in listening to an album that the critics called a failure, and the critics were not willing to actually appreciate what this album was because at the end of the day, they were listening to Christina Aguilera, the radio friendly voice that came out of Disney Channel.
Maybe if another voice was the one behind those lyrics and beats the would've called it “genius” as it actually is, but the truth is that no other voice would've been as powerful to carry its message trough.
We all know that some shady business made the promotion impossible and affected the critical reception, but it will always remain in our (and Christina’s) heart for what it really is: The most artistically relevant body of work a pop artist has accomplished in the decade, maybe the millennium.
Pure art! Under appreciated for fake comparisons with another pop artists. The music on this project can’t be compared with anything else at that time.
