❛ i hope that you’re happier today. ❜
@justicepursued
The tin tray rattles as the doctor gingerly sets it atop the (now-clean) table. ❝ My condolences. ❞ a rueful grin settles on her lips, ❝ If they are anything like me, it is likely they make bad hosts. I certainly hope their tea was better. ❞ At the very least, her home is now somewhat presentable for Zenyatta. All of the cigarette butts are gone, the creases in tangled sheets smoothed out with military precision. Heavy-duty air freshener lingers in the air of her enclosed tent. Never has Angela played host to a spiritual teacher—certainly not in her private life. Mercy had been the diplomat, but to summon even a pale imitation of her impeccable grace felt tantamount to deception. Angela opts to adjust her glasses instead, breathing in another heady dose of lavender-scented chemical fumes. Blue eyes linger on the Omnic’s unreadable expression, weighing his question carefully. Steam from her scalding mug of black tea fogs the lenses, breaking the breakneck pace of her thoughts. An exasperated sigh chases after scattered ideas into the silence, long fingers pulling off her glasses to stow away in her lab coat. Zenyatta’s question lingers in the wake of her frustration, patiently waiting to be answered. ❝ To say it is a want would trivialize its importance, ❞ Angela cradles the hot mug in her prosthetic hand, a frown twisting her features, ❝ I need peace, much as we all do. ❞ ❝ …In the end we must ask ourselves what we owe to each other. ❞ Mint leaves bob gently in the tea, ❝ I can think of no better answer than an end to all conflict. ❞
A light winded slipped through the seams of the current home; stirring up the scent that tried to give pale memories of cleaner spaces.
the dust that the monk expected to dance within the canvas-filtered sunlight seemed to have been chased away before he arrived.
his metal frame bowed to the host as tea was placed upon the table.
「 ༀ - ah, on the contrary; i have yet to meet one that were not wonderful hosts - despite their own perceptions of such. 」
the diligently cleaned room was appreciated, of course; - although he could not help but feel that the life of the home was scrubbed away along with the wears of time.
he waited on her thoughts quietly, but not still - gentle rising and falling of shoulders to give the other a reminder of life.
「 ༀ - ...yes, we all do. 」
a silence gently settled in the room once more, the omnic letting it in for just the moment as he covered his face with a paper fan, saving the doctor the uncanny sight as he tasted the tea that was gifted to him.
the effort was greatly appreciated.
「 ༀ - ...yet to search for peace among so much troubles... was peace promised to you for your service? or is it the only known path you have left? 」
@justicepursued told Preston, “Stop shining that flashlight on me! I’m not a damn ghost!”
“That’s exactly what a ghost would say-” he argues, but the flashlight is pointed away all the same. He believes her. But after a brief pause, Preston adds,
“Y’know, if you’re really not a ghost, you should remind me... what, exactly, it is we’re looking for here?”
@justicepursued asked: ↪ Morning / Evening Routine Headcanons !
Does your muse take anything to help them sleep? Do they take prescriptions in general?
yes —
what he takes to help him sleep varies. but due to the difference in his work / game schedule, he relies pretty heavily on sleep aids. and, because of a few OTHER medications he takes, they don’t always work.
the main content of his daily dose consists of medications prescribed to help control his alzheimer’s symptoms. he’s in between medications, currently making the switch from memantine to donepezil due to an onset of hypertension that his doctor believes might’ve been triggered by the former drug. it’s also to blame for his bouts of insomnia. if the switch doesn’t work, he’ll have to be placed on an antihypertensive as well — which he’d rather avoid considering the possibility of it affecting his participation in the games.
❝ i always keep my word, don’t i? ❞
{∔}-; Although being nice enough to lend a helping hand to a stranger without strings attached wasn’t really something known to be in Sombra’s nature, it was something she found herself saddled with recently, if only because an outside party convinced her.
While Angela had agreed to cooperate for the time being, their alliance had been shaky at best- considering the two of them were polar opposites when it came to both morality and personality. It was understandable, even if it was incredibly frustrating, because Olivia didn’t like the situation either.
It was at its worst when she had to directly intervene, meddling with Talon henchman by giving them false instructions, just to keep the woman safe.
“Sí, sí. Let’s just try to avoid doing this again.” Once Sombra knew for certain that Angela could get away without any trouble, she was quick to leave, but things were almost never as simple as they seemed to be.
“So the expert on all of this is… you?”

"Er, yes that would be me."
The pregnant pause that followed was broken by the redheaded doctor as she cleared her throat.
"Hinoka Yoshitaka, Doctor of Regenerative Medicine." She bowed politely as was the custom after an introduction. She already knew who Angela Ziegler was--The entire inspiration for her work. There's a slight flush in her cheeks.
"I apologize if I am not what you were expecting, but I can absolutely assure you that I can answer any questions you may have!"
“you’re not a monster.” (for mark)
In the back of his head, Mark could recognize that there was some truth to her words. She would have no reason to lie about something like that. And yet? It was hard to accept the comment and believe her. He had spent the majority of his life looking up to his father, admiring what he could do and where he came from, wishing that he could be exactly like him. To find out who his father really was? That his home planet was filled with cruel, blood thirsty people who wanted to conquer as many planets as they could? Well. It did not make him feel great about himself or what he was.
(He still found himself stuck on Nolan’s words, too. That the Viltrum.ite blood was so strong that he was more Viltrum.ite than he was human).
“I don’t know about that,” he said with a weak laugh. He had the sudden urge to wrap his arms around himself, self-soothe in some way, and maybe curl in on himself. There was too much to deal with given everything that had happened. How was he supposed to deal with all that? “I don’t think that I’m a hero anymore, at least.”
“ you’re my family . ” ( for mark! )
The comment was enough to make the younger hero pause. Hovering there, eyes wide as he stared at Angela for a long moment. It was obvious that the words had taken him off guard — Surprised him in more ways than one. Mark knew, in the back of his head, that it should not be all that surprising. Angela had become some type of mentor and family friend to him almost as soon as he had met her. “I don’t know if you want to be part of my family,” he tried to joke with a weak smile, “it’s pretty fucked up so far.”
