Note to Self
The next time you find yourself dreading practice because of sheer laziness, self doubt, fear of falling, the fact that you haven't skated in 2 weeks so you're gonna suck more than usual, your humiliating attempt at burpees on skates, the agonizing foot cramps, pushing yourself to the limit for two full hours...and the fact that you're choosing all of THIS and leaving your kids and fiancé behind, remember THIS... The good hurt, the muscles you didn't know existed which are now crying out for more attention. The residual energy. The desire to call into work so you can skate instead. How much fun you had after all. How awesome it is that even though you're still not bouting, you're better at this than you've ever been and last but not least, the truly amazing people whom are now in your life encouraging you, and pushing you to be better, simply because of this common love we have for derby. I have no idea where this road will take me. I just know that it's better than any place I've already been.
