As soon as Rusty was through the door, Pax knew he couldn’t be trusted on his own, but he didn’t know who he could ask for help. After a moment’s hesitation, he texted Vincent Please, I don’t know what this is, but I need you. Please. Along with his address in hopes that the man would come. That had been about ten minutes ago, as far as Pax was aware, and he was currently pacing in front of the door, waiting for Vince to possibly arrive.
His heart was in his throat and his eyes were rimmed red when a knock came to the door. Within a minute, Pax had pulled it open, and before Vince could step through the door, Pax launched himself at the man, burying his face in Vincent’s chest as his body began to shake with sobs again. It wasn’t the introduction or welcome Vinny deserved, but it was the only thing Paxton has the energy to do.
