The First Vision
A small Amani child wandered through his home, but it was dark and full of shadows. He felt a tug to a small hut where one of his friends lived. He knew this place, it was where Yajashi lived, a young girl his age. She was laying motionless on her bedroll with her mother sobbing over hear and her father explaining that she traveled too far outside and Elves found her. Niether of the adults seemed to notice his presence as they grueved. The young troll wasn’t even noticed as he stood bt Yajashi’s mother and looked to find a broken arrow sticking out of the girl’s chest, her eyes half closed and she wasn’t breathing.
Overwhelmed, he staggered staggered away and screamed in denial. He was just a boy and had nonidea why he was seeing this horrible thing, his friend lie dead and the shadows grew darker as a single High Elf ranger emerged from the inky blackness ahead.
“NO! DON’T!” Juul woke up in a cold sweat, screaming and kicking in his own bedroll. An old troll accomanied by a younger, pregnant troll woman entered his room within the temple, his parents he realized as he calmed down enoughbto srart screaming. He ran to his mother’s arms crying.
“Boy, didcha have a nightmare?” The ancient troll, Juul’s father, asked. He set a hand on his son’s shoulder and looked to his mate, Jia'caz with a truly concerned look.
“An Elf, he killed Yajashi! Her mama and papa was cryin’ and… Den he came for Juul!” The little troll sobbed, holding his mother close.
“Jia, let me talk to de boy, get ya rest. I’ll be wit ya shortly.” The old troll said, kissing Jia on the forehead and she nodded, slowly getting up and leaving the room. Tular'Anok held onto his son in Jia’s place whispering “Tell ya old mon all about it, and I will keep ya safe from de Elf.”
It took time for them to calm Juul down as well as get a full summary of his nightmare until he could finally rest. Tular'Anok left Juul and looked at Jia as he left the small chamber. “What’s wrong wit my boy?” Jia asked, laying on her bed of furs, rubbing her swollen belly to calm herself.
“A nightmare… Or a vision of his friend’s death. Juul only be five year old, but he described one of de High Elven rangers who has a knack for killin’ younger trolls from what all de reports say.” He slowly laid down, groaning lightly as he did.
“I’ll speak ta de girl’s parents and just explain dey exercise caution. But it is probably nothing more den a nightmare.”
A week later, Yajashi’s father was seen walking hack into Zul'Aman carrying the broken form of his daughter in his arms with an Elven arrow embedded in her chest. They buried her that day and that night Juul’s nightmare returned, worse than before.
Juul'Caz was leaning over the still body of his friend crying when another troll who shared Juul’s appearance came from behind, screaming “YA LET HER DIE! YA LET YAJASHI DIE!”
Juul looked up at himself and cried “Juul told his old mon! Ya got ta believe Juul! He nevah wanted Yajashi hurt!”
The second Juul'Caz pointed at at the crying troll “Ya let her die! Ya didn’t do enough! I loved her and ya let her die!”
“SHUT UP! SHUT UP!” Juul woke up, sceaming to find himself alone in his bed chamber. He was full of sorrow and confusion. “Why did Juul say…” He shook his head lightly, and questioned why the doppelganger from his nightmare accused him of letting her die and professed love for his friend. Yajashi was nice, but Juul didn’t feel that way about the girl. His hairs on the back of his neck rose as if someone was starng him down. He looked around to find no one was there.
As things were… Juul'Caz couldn’t see the spirit of a young troll boy his age with a similar appearance to him standing in front of him, with an intangible chain in his chest leading to Juul’s own chest. The other troll stared hatefully at Juul, tears streaming down his own face.
