     diana felt like a child, brow furrowed, tongue stuck outward against her lips as her eyes trained on the large television screen. she’d never been one for video games, not entirely grasping their purpose until jason had invited her to play a round. she failed miserably, of course, no match to the male who could probably play with his eyes closed. but in due time after recruiting tim and the other boys to help her gain skill, she proposed yet another match to her strong competition. as the loading screen illuminated the dark room, the amazon leans toward the other, game face on and eyes steady. “i can’t wait to watch you burn.” her lips shift to an upturned smirk as she boops her head against the others’ temple before returning her full attention to the video game.

    his helmet sat on the edge of the roof, in front of him. standing tall in his fully armed suit, he could barely hear the whistle of the wind over the gun shots and fighting down below. his mind seemed to be in two places at one time. on his home: his family and life decisions, and on the violence down below. seeing the bodies drop, seeing the heroes and villains fight, the soldiers fight the winter soldier, was all too familiar for slade. in a way, the battlefield was his second home -- maybe his first. he remembered ... he felt most comfortable here. he’d only lived and breathed war since he was sixteen. he was dangerously attracted to it, until he was discharged. all because he wanted to save his friend. wintergreen. he’d finally thought he’d done something interesting around here. thrown them all under the bus, when he lost his train of thought at the sound of footsteps and slade looked back. he gave his full attention to him. “hey kiddo ...” he sounded a little suprised. no humor -- just geniune. like he was talking to wintergreen.“what are you doing, up here?” his enhanced intellect took a backseat for a minute. he just wondered why jason was here.
