i like to imagine that, for jeeves, being mr. wooster’s gentleman is like having a beloved doll that you consider your best friend. you can pick out his outfits, take good care of him, and get him out of situations you put him in and he appreciates all of it. he’s just happy to be by your side :)

something something jeeves’ eternal dedication to making bertie’s life beautiful and bertie’s effusive and adoring reverence for jeeves above all else. something something.

jeeves existing fully only when bertie isn’t around to see it.. the yawn he stifles at dawn before making coffee. sneezing once or twice after he dusts. checking his fingernails for dirt while waiting for water to boil. humming on his way to the market. waiting until he hears approaching footsteps to start polishing the silver etc but none of it truly occurs without someone to narrate it

there’s something so affectionate and borderline intimate about fry and laurie’s j&w. jeeves’ tenderness towards bertie and bertie’s admiration of jeeves comes across so naturally, it’s not difficult to imagine that the series’ j&w genuinely care for and enjoy each other as friends. i think f&l’s history (both as besties and colleagues) lends itself well to a level of familiarity that idk we’d get otherwise with different actors and i love it.
