When I think of Jyou, Mimi and their relationship, I cannot help but feel like... No matter what kind of obstacles they may face, if anyone can overcome them, it's these two. Through all the hardships they already had to face, finding their own support roles as Chosen Children, dealing with the right balance of selfishness and selflessness as they grew up and had to pick a path for themselves... Both their similarities and differences are the reason why they'll come out on top. Jyou may have made up his mind early on, committing to the daunting and time-consuming goal of becoming a doctor, whereas Mimi's free spirit made her experiment and be creative... But that's exactly the contrast they both need. As I had put it in my analysis post already: Where Mimi can be brash, Jyou can act as the reliable voice of reason that gets her back to earth - where Jyou gets doubtful and anxious, Mimi is a ray of sincere positivity and forwardness. They've grown communicative and understanding of each other - and, most importantly, comfortable and patient. And they may have to be just that - because, regardless of which Digimon Adventure continuity you'd like to follow, they may have to deal with the circumstances of a long-distance-relationship for huge chunks of their twenties. Jyou's career path in particular may require them to make the best of the little time they have - but if gate-hopping is (becoming) a thing, Mimi will make sure to take care of that. She's an initiator - and Jyou is the one who has it all planned in the back. And thus, I think they will always be capable of surprising each other positively.
(I swear, I wanted to do so much for them this weekend, the prompts were all so tempting and inspiring and I really hope I'll be able to work on a few more of them in the future! These designs I chose were inspired by both their 02 and Beyond designs btw!)
