K'piru to K'ile: 💛💖💗 and to be honest, there's probably a smidge of 💜 buried deep and largely because he just hits all the right notes physically (like Thalen did).
This ship has so much steam but never goes anywhere. The captain’s just sitting at the helm with the engine running and everyone like, “Are we going? We’re ready. Let’s go!” and the captain’s like, “Nope.”
K'ile ➵ K'piru
I would hurt you or use you. | you unsettle me. | I dislike you or you annoy me. | I would like to get to know you better. | I pity you. | you confuse me. | I feel indifferent towards you. | I would be friends with you. | I would fight by your side. | I would hug you or hold your hand. | I would kiss you. | I would sleep with you. | I would lie for you. | I would protect you. | I would fall (possibly) in love with you. | I would kill for you | I respect you. | you are my family. | I don’t know you.
K'piru ✏ = teaching K'ile a different language (how to read/write).
K’ile Tia stared at the page with his eyes narrowed and his brow creased, trying to figure out if he’d heard K’piru correctly. His concentration broke with eh shaking of his head and he lifted his arms. “That doesn’t make any sense, though? I get the different words, fine, I expected that. But why do they use more words to say the same thing? And why do the same letters make different sounds? That’s confusing. Why would anyone make a language that confusing? Who’s idea was that?” K’ile finally lifted his gaze from the page to look in K’piru’s direction, but noted immediately her expression: not exactly encouraged by his complaints. K’ile’s ears lay back, and he only managed to hold her gaze for an instant before turning back to the page. “Okay, fine, so it’s doing that stuff you said, and that’s... Tell me again. I’ll get it.”
ARR!Illira to D'hein - : stabbing them
D’hein didn’t even realize what had happened at first. He heard his clothes tear and something press against his side, but at first he just took it as a light jab. He kept his gaze on Illira’s face, trying to determine the extent of her fury beneath her facade. Putting a hand on his hip, D’hein grumpped, “Hitting me won’t do any good. That will just...” Then eh felt the warmth spreading from the point of impact just before a wash of numbness consumed it. The cold spread out over his skin and deep inside of him in a way it never had before. He dropped his gaze to see Illira’s hand clutching a hilt. “Oh.” D’hein stared at the way his robes pressed into the wound, fascinated by the smootheness with which the blade tore the cloth. Like a tailor’s tool, very fine. Illira would likely settle for nothing less. But when he lifted his eyes to look at the woman, it was not fear or anger that he expressed, but disappointment. His brow and his lips bent, and he shook his head. “This goes against everything you believe in, doesn’t it?” His voice quieted as the numbness rose into his throat.
K’airos entered the room suddenly, and D’hein had no shirt anywhere nearby. He spun and clutched the closest thing he could, a towel. “Oh, K’airos! Hello, please don’t leave, I’ll just...” He pulled the towel up over his chest in modest, one ear twitching while his other seemed to be listening to the ceiling. As he turned to look at K’airos again, however, his brow lowered in thought for a moment, and then he cast the towel away to let his smooth chest shine in the light. “Well, if this is the will of the Twelve, let it be! For you are the very glow that my skin reflects, and as my future bride it’s not entirely inappropriate!”
Megiddo was well-versed in the feeling of pointed blades. His skin knew the touch of a knife almost as well as it knew the touch of wind, and just as wind would make him shiver, so the point of a blade made him lash out on instinct. He spun away from the blade, and when he thrust his arm in the direction by instinct, his own knife preceded his fingers. It was the lethal reaction of a much younger killer, the old man’s instincts to ensure the death of the one who sought to kill him. Part of him, distantly, realized the one who had attacked him was a Lalafel whom he’d once shared banter with. Part of him knew he should’ve never relaxed enough to give her this opportunity. Another part of him hoped that his retaliating blade missed, thinking that letting Ulanan take his life would not be the worst way for his years to finally end.
This was nostalgic, but at the same time, unsettling. “I’ve no wish to be in your debt, Antimony. Assuredly your skill and care equal to any diety of medicine, love or family, but...” Even as he said these things, he gave a lifted brow to the strangely carved wooden figure setting nearby. Antimony had done something with it, some words spoken over the figure, bones in her hands, and his pain had eased miraculously. “I must dubiously inquire after this desert medicine of yours. It is troubling and fascinating, yet anything in your fingers and on your lips is more beautiful than the world from which it comes.” He reached a curious hand toward the wooden figure. Maybe it was a magical focus of some kind.
Closeness with K’piru was comfortable and easy. She’d been there his entire life, and K’ile had spent his entire life valuing her presence. She was comfortable the way the smell of home was comfortable, the way the sun and sand of Thanalan was comfortable. Holding her was natural, and as he wrapped his arms around her, he didn’t feel like anything in his life was missing. She fit against his body perfectly, just like she always had, and her cheek was just as soft as it always had been.
When her lips pressed against his, his own lips responded without any prompting or thought. It was just as natural as everything else. The scent of her strengthened with the taste of the kiss, and their bodies seemed to fit together closer than they ever had before. It was warmer. It was more comfortable, even more natural. And as easy as everything had seemed a moment before, as K’ile lifted one hand to pet the back of K’piru’s hair, he wondered how just hugging had ever been enough.

K’ile’s had a crush on K’piru non-stop for like thirty years. She was probably the first female he felt any attraction to. She is his brother’s woman, though, so that knocked the sex number down a lot once he grew out of puberty.
001 - K'ile/K'piru
when I started shipping it if I did: In the retro threads. I figured out that, when K’ile was a kid, he had a crush on K’piru which he later grew out of.
my thoughts: This ship is equal parts adorable and problematic to me. I think it could get them into a lot of trouble. And I love them just as much as a platonic ship as I do a romantic ship.
What makes me happy about them: The way K’ile feels better being around K’piru, even when they’re not getting along. The way he tries to look tough in front of her but she sees right through that and he knows that of course she will but keeps trying anyway.
What makes me sad about them: SO MUCH! That K’ile tried to protect her from K’aijeen without telling her, that K’ile was jealous of K’thalen, that K’piru left the tribe and K’ile never got over it, that K’ile is willing to go way too far just to see K’piru again, that it interferes with the other important things he’s supposed to be doing and he doesn’t realize that.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: Folk reading too much into K’ile and K’piru’s relationship. There’s nothing romantic between them, even if the potential is there, and I love this sort of ignorant close relationship they have that’s sort of friends, sort of siblings, sort of trying to fill a romantic role but without actually being romantic. They don’t know what they are. They just are.
things I look for in fanfic: K’ile and K’piru having adorable spats about nothing but then also enouraging eachother.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Obviously I’m also very on board the K’ile/K’luha train; they’re pretty perfect for eachother. I could still see Antimony ending up with D’hein, but now Antimony seems to have competition.
My happily ever after for them: Involves K’piru returning to the tribe and helping K’luha train K’ile up into a real strong, devoted Nunh.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: K’ile is such a tiny Tia, he’d be the littlest big spoon ever.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: K’ile might not get the chance to show it a lot, but he values what K’piru tried to teach him and thinks kids would be better off knowing it. K’ile would drag the kids over and hold them down while K’piru taught them all the important stuff. Then K’ile would try to learn it to and get frustrated that he doesn’t have much talent for it.
